Foreign Transfers
Teams can make two foreign bid at a time, when you get to 25-26 players you may only bid for one player at a time.
Bids must be in the region of 5 million to 20 million.

Bids will be checked at 12.00 midday, if your bid was after 8pm the previous day. If your bid was made after 12.00 midday your bid will be accepted or rejected at 8.00pm the same day.

If another bid for the respective player has been made, it will move over to the next day; however whoever has the highest bid by 4.00pm the next day will get there bid accepted.

All foreign transfers must be confirmed on the transfer confirmation page.

All bids for players must be made on this page and this page only.

Ok, I am going for a controversial one here, but I have evidence to back up my case.

Please note the dates of the top two matches on the list, both in the 80's, proving that he still played top flight rugby in that decade.

Why?

Why.

A.Risky because of dates.

B.Didn't play international rugby in 1980.

C.Played for the Barbarian FC only 20 games and that went onto the 80's for about one year.

D.We have to rate players from there prime, his prime was 70's not 80's.

Nowhere do the rules say must have played international rugby in the 80's.

How many games he played for the Barbarians is irrelevant, as is how people have to rate players.

Mate, why do you have to argue everything? Use some common sense, if he played the bulk of his rugby in the 70s and a few games in the 80s, surely he is not available, but you know this, otherwise you wouldn't have said 'risky one'

Because as per the rules he should be allowed, but I said risky as I knew that someone would raise an objection.

Yeah by a technicality the rules are right, but like pull said before, people need to use some common sense, it baffles me sometimes how people don't get this?

Yesterday someone complaining that a bid placed at 19.58 wasn't accepted at 8, although within the rules.

Now you trying to be a bit cheeky, if you knew it was a risk, then surely, you can accept glosbears reasons for rejecting it?

As I've said before, just use a bit of common sense. It's impossibe to create rules for every possible scenario just in case there's a query.

Using your logic a 1940's rugby player could be bought on the basis he played rugby with his grandson in the 80's. That comes within the rule '2.The players you buy must have played Rugby between 1980 to 2010'.

You've taken a punt and it's been rejected. Move on and try any of the 10,000's players out there!

there were other players let in the game who hadn't played international rugby in the 80's but had played top club rugby, so seems unfair not to allow him to buy Bennet if he wants?

Also, out of interest, you accuse me of being childish and bathite accuses me of being argumentative, yet you have both jumped into an argument that was not yours to fight.

I am quite entitled to raise issue with the person running the game about matters pertaining to the game. He did not ask either of you two to contribute to the discussion, so I'm not sure quite why you have felt the need to get invovled and jump to his defence.

He was a 70's man like I said before im getting a bit peed off with these players getting bidded on from 1970's but only played like two-three years in the 80's.

Bennett only played one year and probably only half of that year due to season wise.

Your not having him Pete, 80 to 2010 there are thousands of players like I said before.

Bear, you do realise that only 16 men have played more than 20 matches for the Barbarians since they were formed in 1890 don't you?

You have have pointed out more than once to various people that this game is meant to be a bit of fun, and you are right it is. It is a great concept for a game bringing players from different eras together into teams. All of this taking petty issue with how many games players played in the 80's does take some of that fun out of it slightly though.

How is Bennett any different from Gibson, who I was allowed to sign?

I think it's a poor showing Bear, you have to have consistency in how you apply the rules, and there is none as you allowed Gibson but not Bennett. Think you need to sort out some clarification around the rules so people know where they stand, as I am certain from conversations with others that people are putting a fair amount of research into who they go for, and it's a wasted effort if we don't know exactly what is allowed and what isn't.

I will put him down but people shouldn't be allowed to rate him on 70's performances to make myself clear.

Bear, I knew you'd see sense, good man. In all seriousness though, in the interest of peace and harmony, as I am not one for getting into arguments to be honest and I can tell that bathite and pull are getting their knickers in a bit of a knot over this, I'll not put offers in for any more 'borderline' 80's players.

What might be a idea though is for you to tighten up the rules if you don't want any more of these players in the game. if you only want players who played international rugby in the 80's then maybe alter rule 2 to reflect that.

So far in this game people have bought Gethin Jenkins, Adam Jones, Julian white, Ali Williams, Stephen Ferris and Steve Borthwick. Are you seriously telling me that any of those guys are 'Legends'? Tonga'uiha is every bit as good as every one of them.

But yeah i would argue all of those, even Borthwick are more legendary, based on the number of caps for their country and the length of service for their club at the highest level! All of them have played in big tournaments and won big trophies. Not doutbing Tiny's ability and he will end up doing that, but in my book, he isn't a legend (yet)

Fair enough, just seemed like as soon as I bid for someone you jumped in after yesterdays mini spat., so maybe I have taken the wrong end of the stick.

In terms of debate, I think the debate here is what is a 'Legend'. I don't really agree that you can be more legendary than someone else really, you either are or you aren't for me. In those terms we'd struggle to have a game, as true legends in my mind are few and far between, and there are plenty of players in this game, old an new that I wouldn't really term as 'Legends'.

I also don't think caps should really come into it, as there are a number of reasons why people might not win many caps which shouldn't preclude them from attaining 'Legend' status.

Think the word 'Legend' is just a guide for the league guys

Don't see any reason why having top quality modern players is an issue - and how we term them is on opinion.

For example players like Tonga or Hartley are becoming legendary at saints and they already are to their fans. They are payers with character and charisma, the kind of players that people go to watch the game for.

I think players like Tonga, Lawes, JSD and for me and the Bath fans Banahan are legendary as they enthrall us with the way they play the game. Yes they may not have 50+ caps between them, they may not have had the opportunities at international level yet BUT when they get the ball, or hit and opponent in a tackle the crowd notices . . .

I agree Hon, I am a London Irish fan, and Big Bob Casey, Neal Hatley and Justin Bishop are all legends to the fans at the club, but none of them is a world class player, and Hatley never won international recognition (I am tempted to bid for him in this game by the way as a means of keeping with the Barbarians ethos of my squad and having one uncapped player)

If we're talking legends for Irish none other than giant hands Chris Sheasby!

Sheasby was quality pull, real old school rugby player.

Fair point and something i agree with i suppose, having thought about it! Im not saying for one minute that every player HAS to be a legend to play in this game, of course not. And of course players like Casey and Bishop will be legends at the Not Nots and Tiny at the Saints. For the same reasons, people like Duncan Bell, Butch James and Banahan will be considered legends at Bath.

My definition of legend, great question, i like it. Almost impossible to define, but im going to have a good think and think what deserves this status in my head.

A legendary player will have at least two of these characteristics i reckon, loosely speaking!

Many of these are mutually exclusive, i mean some great players don't have many int caps for whatever reasons:
apartheid, less games in 80s, injuries, fall out with mgmt, stuck behind great player

And conversely, some average players have loads of caps!

1. Played a substantial number of games for club or country - Charvis/Casey
2. Plays the game in a way that entertains or is infamous (crowd favourite) - Caucau/Chabal/Lima
3. Respected by fellow club/country fans - Hill/O'Gara/Corry
4. Won big games with big performances - Back/Foley
5. Approach to the game (especially in amateur days) - Barnes/Blanco
6. Magic - a player who possesses that touch of genius, gallic flair, or x-factor or glamour - BOD/Spencer
7. Brings something new and/or different to the game - Lomu/Tiny/Brits/Brooke/Eales

Reckon that should start some debate!

Butch James would be considered a legend amongst RSA fans as well Bathite?? He is a world cup winner after all?
