She's joined by Sam Roberts and Pat McAfee. The panel hypes tonight's loaded Takeover card. Charly sends us outside to Sarah Schreiber with a bunch of fans doing the NXT chant. Schreiber and Caruso also hype the WWE 2K19 Million Dollar Challenge, which will see a fan game against AJ Styles for $1 million, later on the pre-show. Really good, though I question whether Gargano should ever lose a match again if he can handle that much punishment

Opening tag was excellent. War Raiders are the full package and it was a great send off for Black and Ricochet.

Riddle vs Dream was much better than I had expected. Never understood the hype behind Riddle, but from an in-ring perspective the guy is awesome. Not a fan of the gimmick though, dont see it ever being taken serious. Dream is the total package. Guys that charismatic are a once in a generation thing and he could be a Frak megastar, especially considering how young he still is.

Dunne vs WALTER was probably my MOTN. Loved the story telling and the resiliance of Dunne before finally succumbing. WALTER is a smart choice to put the belt on now because whoever beats him is going to get a massive rub.

The womens match felt weird. I dont know if it was because it had to follow Dunne vs WALTER but it felt like it took a while to get going, and then just as it kicked off it ended. Shayna winning was a big surprise, I was certain this would be her NXT swansong. She's improved massively and I think she's done all she can in NXT. Probably keeper her there to work with her pals a bit more.

Gargano vs Cole was a slow burner, but by the time of the third match it really kicked into a high gear. Loved the story of Gargano never giving up, and there were some of the best nearfalls I've ever seen. Its a damn shame we never got a conclusion to the DIY story (and it seems unlikely we will now) but this was a very worthy replacement.

1. The ME
2. Riddle vs Dream
3. Tag
4. Walter vs Dunne
5. Women’s match

The ME went slow to start with, and it wasn’t great for a good while, but it did ramp it up big. I wasn’t too into Gargano being completely unbeatable, but it was dramatic and exciting.

Loved Riddle/Dream. Really behind Riddle, and Dream is a star. Love Riddle’s style and disagree on the gimmick, love that it’s juat an extension of him.

Tag match was well done too. Ricochet crying at the end did pull at me.

Walter/Dunne was good, but I don’t think it was brilliant. Ended well but did feel a little meh at times. Not mad on Walter.

Bianca was a bit meh, loved the Kairi and Io story and their ringwork was brilliant. Shayna could let them do it and be the brutal champ.

And they always say thats what makes the best gimmicks. I was glad when he started showing more heel mannerisms as the match went on because atleast that way Im meant to dislike him Laugh

Where and when though, cos I'm in Australia.

It was a very good match, but I don't see it as the best (Meltzer agrees with you). I wouldn't even put it as the best NXT match. Dunno, I really enjoyed it, but the ending went a bit far and I don't like 2/3 falls matches particularly, cos they always start with pins that make no sense.

I'm in Edinburgh in June, meet me halfway!? boxing

It was excellent, there's no doubting that. The sequencing, the tension, the drama, the obvious but yet surprising UE interference. I genuinely thought Cole had it won. I wouldn't say it's the best ever, ever.

It's the first Takeover i've watched in a while, so i'll give my views: -

Tag match was excellent. One of the best i've seen for a while (I don't watch a hell of a lot of wrestling). The result was going to be obvious, i liked the touch at the end with the War Raiders offering hands. Ricochet though. Right in the feels.

Dream v Riddle was superb, but for one thing. For as good as Dream is (and he potentially has everything) he needs to sell offence better. Specifically high impact moves. There were a couple of occasions when he took a big move from Riddle and almost no sold it. But, take nothing away, the guy is insanely talented. Riddle grew on me throughout the match and has a big future. I like the character, not really gimmicky, it's just a reflection of his actual self, and really easy to either like or hate.

Pete Dunne v WALTER. I'm a big Pete Dunne mark, and for me, this was my MOTN. Genuinely think Dunne could be one of the greats if given the opportunity. It wasn't the greatest match from a technical perspective, but they told the story so well. WALTER"s size was always going to be an issue, but Dunne never gave up. I marked when he hit the Bitter End. WALTER can move for a big man, whoever goes over him is going to get some rub. I could see him troubling Lesnar. I also really like the character.

Fatal Four Way. I actually tried to nap through this (I watched just before Mania started) but i did go back and watch. Like Dolph i've got a soft spot for Kairi Sane, love her ring presence, her character and she can go, and her chemistry with Io Shirari made this match. Belairs spot with both of them in the lead up to the finish was quality, even if her setup for the kick from Shayna was sloppy.

Cannot be best ever if it’s not even your MOTN!

I didn’t really get into Walter and Dunne. Walter is just a foreign villain that Hogan will crush around 1992

I think if you enjoyed a match more, it’s the better match. Even if you then argue technical, if it wasn’t good enough to be your MOTN, you surely can’t argue it as the best ever as it’s clearly missed something fundamental.

Listening to Uncle Dave talk about Cole vs Gargano makes me certain its getting 5 stars. Honestly wouldnt surprise me if it gets 6 because he's saying its possibly the best WWE match ever.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I enjoyed Dunne v WALTER because as i said, i'm a Dunne mark. It wasn't better than Gargano v Cole, but out of the 5 matches, i enjoyed it the most.

Does that logic make sense? I know it's trying to explain things to an Aussie Brit who's suffered enough as a West Ham fan (and huge Andy Carroll mark).

Andy Carroll can go back up north where lads who don’t wear shirts in winter think he’s good.

As you’re getting more and more defensive, it’s probably a waste of time, but the point I’m making is surely a Matt couldn’t be the best ever in someone’s opinion if they preferred another match that night, because a best ever is gonna be too good to even have preferred another?

Like, I understand Gargano/Coke was better than Kofi/Bryan in many ways, but I preferred Kofi/Bryan. But the best ever, that’s gonna be a match too good to prefer another that night, if you know why I mean? The best ever.

I am absolutely not getting defensive, Flipper.

I just think it's down to opinions, Gargano v Cole was a belter, I just enjoyed Pete v WALTER... I don't really understand how that's so hard to comprehend.

I’m saying for the best ever though. Like, surely the best ever match, in all of time, if it’s that good in someone’s mind then it’s got to be their MOTN? If someone is going that superlative, then their argument is already at a deficit if it’s not their match of the night.

Meltzer ratings for NXT Takeover - think they are fair? Gargano/Cole is first WWE match to ever get above a 5* rating

The War Raiders vs Aleister Black & Ricochet for the NXT Tag Team Championships.
Rating: 4.5 stars

Velveteen Dream vs Matt Riddle for the NXT North American Championship.
Rating: 4.5 stars

WALTER vs Pete Dunne for the WWE United Kingdom Championship
Rating: 4.75 stars

Shayna Baszler vs Io Shirai vs Kairi Sane vs Bianca Belair for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Rating: 3.75 stars

Adam Cole vs Johnny Gargano in a 2-out-of-3 falls match for the vacant NXT Championship.
Rating: 5.5 stars
