Definitely allow re-bidding so everyone gets 3 players at least - otherwise it's a bit pointless doing a draft if some end up with 3 new players and some none imo

I'll post up a format for team pages this evening. We use Google Docs for everything at work so I don't want my fake football managing getting mixed up with my work files, so will do it off my own laptop later

No to youth teams, for sure. I haven't followed football closely enough to know who's good in my own team's youth setup, let alone anyone else's. And I know two of the Baggies' youth team coaches

And agree on youth teams getting the chop, although I'd perhaps up squad size to 30 and have 4 injuries instead so it allows for that extra bit of space in your squad to nuture some players through.

Happy to ditch youth teams, happy to increase squad size to 30 and happy with 4 injuries per week.

What is all this talk about lawyers?

Lawyers offers - every week you get two random cash offers for your players, at their TM Value plus 10%. Non negotiable, either accept or reject. Then use the cash to reinvest.

Also, might be a silly question, what happens with any players that are in your squad on TM but not on Fifa?

I would say the FIFA squads are the starting point rather than the TM squads

Every week you get offers from outside the league for two of your players. These are known as lawyers offers as many moons ago on 606 they were presented as if from other teams
Lawyers.

The offers are drawn at random and are for the frozen TM value + 10%. They are drawn on a Tuesday and you have until the following weeks lawyers are drawn to accept them, otherwise they are gone

I must say, that's a better name than 'foreigns'.

How are teamsheets going to work? Are we creating them on here? I glanced over something about a google doc a few days ago so I was wondering if we were using them or not.

Our foreign transfers are when we buy from outside of the league, just to add to your confusion!!

There will be a standard layout for tactics, which is sent to Hero by private message. The google doc is just for tracking budgets and players in the league already.

This allows my Google Doc to pull all the relevant info for each of the starting squads, and will mean I only need to check back the TM values

Afro / other spreadsheet nerds - does someone mind checking through the logic of the doc to make sure it works? Will make more sense when I have the team pages in there, but currently have my old Wellington Phoenix squad and the transfers I made in the last week of the season as a test

Have done the fixtures so will post them up tomorrow also, and have also updated my Excel file for the lawyers and injuries.

Just need to update my file for doing results, the league table and top scorers and I’m good to go

Please can you explain why not, if that is the case. And is there a need to be so short with me?

Tm valuations have worked well. Older players are cheaper but also less effective. Take Iniesta for example.

FIFA ratings would have made him one of the most expensive players in the game, but his age meant he didn’t have the legs anymore. His TM value was a better reflection of his contribution than his Fifa rating.

Every player on FIFA has a market value which is easily searchable. It's based on their FIFA rating and potential.

Iniesta is 24m
Angel Gomes is 1.4m
Etc.

And to be honest with the league being based on FIFA ratings, it kind of makes sense to use their pricetags as they are designed to align with that. Also it's much quicker to react to player value fluctuations (updates weekly) so it helps to counter the stock market tactics.

I can't see any legitimate reason to be so against FIFA values and how in any way they are inferior to transfermarkt.

I’m not against FIFA market values. We should consider anything that makes the game better.

I don't think the stock market tactics are necessarily a problem in this kind of league. TM updates arent very regular so they reward those with the patience to buy low and wait, but given the low starting point I'm not sure there will be that much opportunity to do so.

Are there really that many players in FIFA 19 who are rated less than 70 and are also likely to see a substantial TM increase during the course of a season?

Also is FIFA market value the same thing as ultimate team price because that makes 0 sense to me

I like the use of TM values adding variation myself, otherwise it’s surely just fifa. Would be like the fifa version of a lap dance, a fifa league without the best bit of actually controlling the team.

I agree Renege. Ultimately we are just using FIFA to simulate the games. The added variation of valuations is a good thing.

If you go on SoFIFA, when you click on an individual players page, it is shown there.

But I do not think we will go down that route. There is nothing wrong with using the TM values as a representative of player value and as they say "if it aint broke, don't fix it". Would just add additional confusion

Yeah, think TM is the way to go. I like Renege's point about it just becoming FIFA rather than just a simulation

Shall we allocate out the rest of the teams? If we want the first game week to start next Tuesday it doesn't give much time to get the draft bids done and dusted. Don't want to lose momentum by waiting another week

Is there a TM limit on draft selections or simply any player rated 70 or below?

Appreciate the responses and thoughts given - it's just something I think would help the league. The main objection I can see is that transfermarkt gives more variability, which does count for something.

But other than that, I don't see any big reasons to go with transfermarkt values. If anyone can see a reason why then fair enough, but I don't see it.

Myself, I think FIFA market values have a few advantages:

1. The value is more closely linked to their FIFA rating. Obviously it's not solely this, but it's more than transfermarkt does. So some players who are overrated in FIFA will have a price more closely reflecting that.

2. Market values are updated weekly along with player ratings. So we've got a system where player value and player price is being upgraded at different rates, which doesn't seem compatible to me.

3. It removes almost all (maybe all) of the players with 0 value which will undoubtedly end up getting signed, and those big name youngsters do have more inflated values. It helps to counter the stock market tactics.

We can allocate the rest if everyone who hasn't requested one is happy to just be given a team at random.

The one advantage I can see with the value is the removal of the zero values, and assigning a value to include potential. But I also don't think it is quite so easy to get to a list of FIFA values. I had to go into individual players to see their value.

I think if we had access to values as quickly and easily as it is on TM, then it might get more support

I don't see the others as major advantages tbh, as I don't think they are really problems in the first place.
