Indo Pacific Rugby Championship

The Indo Pacific Rugby Championship will launch with initially six teams playing matches in a friendly time zone critical for sponsors that captures most of the world’s population.
The competition will focus on countries that either have an established, or growing, interest in rugby union.
Markets include, but are not limited to, Australia, Singapore, Samoa, Fiji, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, China, Sri Lanka, and Malaysia.
The IPRC will work with other countries in the development of critical skills and capacity for rugby in Asia, providing a clear pathway for the development of players, coaches, referees and administrators across the Indo Pacific region....

Not enough to understand what's really being proposed but probably worth watching, not least to to see how World Rugby sees the project.

Makes no sense to me.
Supposedly will run after the Super Rugby tournament.
Supposedly will help Force players to qualify for Wallabies.
Will run same time whilst NRC and RC is on.
How do thr Force players qualify for Wallabies if they are playing IPRC at the same time as Australia plays the RC.
What do Force players do for the rest of the year?

Rugby is massive in Sri Lanka. The only question I would also ask is why they have not thought about Madagascar, it is their national sport and they have massive crowds.

Look I am just spit balling here. If we are all about developing rugby, why can't a rugby mad country like Madagascar get involved. If as you are insinuating, they are skint, then that's a good enough reason I suppose.

I agree about development, but there are cheaper ways to develop rugby.
South Africa Rugby Union has been inviting teams from the Africa Zone to compete in the Vodacom Cup for years, Namibia, Kenya and even Zimbabwe has been part of it at stages.
Much easier step for Madagascar to join the Vodacom Cup (don't know why they haven't been involved yet) than joining an expensive complike pro 14

You would know better than me Biltong, stories I have been told about Madagascan rugby are mental.
Is it really that big there?
Are they really that mad about it ?
I am hearing stories of crowds the size of 30,000 just to watch their local sides, and people walking about two days to go and watch a game. Is this true ?

Yes they have had some big crowds at test matches, however they aren't very strong.
Within the Africa zone they struggle to qualify for rwc etc.
