Just on the Allen fight. He is poor. If he had no chin, he would be absolutely garbage.

Have David Allen down 5 rounds after 6...that basically means he is up by 4.

The sky commentators are very biased towards Allen. Looks like Allen could do with a different trainer. He smothers his own work and doesn't give himself enough distance to get his shots off. Against a puncher he'll end up on a knockout reel. What I will say is that Allen is taking things at his pace. I hope that Allen commits himself to the game so we can truly see what he can offer

Landed the cleaner shots. Allen threw loads and pressed the fight but was sluggish and landed literally nothing. The guy boxed Allen's head off at times. You could see maybe a draw being at home but I had the Jamaican ahead comfortable even with the point.

Allen won't go far. Not a chance.

I agree with hammer. That fight was pathetic from Allen. I could run forward all night and through 300 punches. If I land 7 and the other guy lands 15 clean flush punches and makes me look stupid then he will win.
Allen was poor. No two ways about it.

I like Allen but he's annoying really.

Got an opportunity there with Eddie backing him and he's not taking advantage of it with performances like that.

Right from the off he was slow and ponderous. Really poor technique.

He should adapt that plodding style and good chin and try to really work the body and put the pressure on. But instead he just plods and tries to land looping hooks that don't even appear to carry that much power.

He's carrying far too much weight as well, I hate fighters that fall short on strength and conditioning. Even amateur fighters who take it reasonably serious stay in better shape than some of these pros and it really aggravates me

Don't think anybody is arguing that Allen was poor. No technique, tactics or strategy. Just charge forward and throw punches.

The point that Allen connected with way more punches, because of work rate, seemed fairly clear (although the box stats may prove me wrong).

It's about punches connecting. I can see judges having less doubts about scoring punches from a c fighter with better technique, rather than one smothering his own work.

But, from what I saw, there was clearly more punches landing from Allen. As poor quality as they were.

And the game is about landing punches and not looking cultured and pretty in the ring.

Obviously, I've missed the point of boxing.

Why do they bother with KO's and punch stats when it's a sport of artistry, like rhythmic gymnastics. It's about the number of quality punches.

We need to go back and strip Marciano of his wins. I'm fact, any fight with a ring name 'brawler', slugger etc should lose, instantly. Although, Those with quality ring names like Picasso​, Gucci and kominech should win, instantly.

Hatton was a slugger...he won...he landed good clean shots to the body and head.

Allen wasn't good tonight he said so himself and I didn't see many complaints after.

He rushed and and got picked off clean everytime.

I guarantee when the stats come out, Allen would have thrown more by far...but they would have landed similar.

The difference was the Thomas landed flashy clean punches and they were eye catching shots. He looked the better boxer. Better footwork and defence to go with it.

No, it's the number of clear, scoring punches. Although the Jamaican through quality, clean punches there were few of them.

Allen threw lots of scrappy punches but it was clear there are more clean, scoring punches amongst those to outstrip the number is clear, scoring punches the Jamaican threw.

Not sure why I'm arguing this, as neither will go much further. Other than the two of you seen very confused about scoring in boxing, talking about quality when it's clear, scoring punches that get counted and matter.

How tough is Chud?

One of the few times I've seen a fight stopped with the fighter upright, off the ropes and his guard up. But he took pretty much 20 or so power punches with very little coming back.

I can see people disputing it, and possibly rightly.

But Chud was taking a hell of a lot of punishment. The ref obviously decided he'd seen enough.

Thought it was perfectly timed stoppage. But I take the point, unusual to see a guy stopped on his feet who hasn't taken a single backward step and looks like you couldn't stop him with a bazooka

Something still doesn't seem right with him. I honestly think Smith and Degale would batter him now.

Chud has some chin on him. Groves could have punched him all night and not put him over. Stoppage was spot on though. Fair play to George, hopefully some good SMW fights come up with the British fighters.

I thought the ref go it right. Chud was taking a lot of punishment and giving little back. The ref has to weight up his odds of winning Vs the probability of damaging his health and I thought the ref got it right. Looked to me that Chud was one of these strange SOBs that simply can keep it together even though he's out on his feet. But he was taking huge punishment. Groves, not the hardest but, is still a decent puncher kept catching him clean and that's not healthy.
