An up and down day at The Players Championship saw big name contenders drop like stones down the leaderboard and lesser names move into contention.  Si Woo Kim mastered the windy conditions the best as his bogey free round of 69 was only bested by two players, Dustin Johnson and Brendan Steele who both shot 68, as he showed remarkable composure to close out a three shot win over Ian Poulter and  Louis Oosthuizen.

Scoring picks proved to be fairly elusive as ten picks finished in a scoring positiom.  Beninho, Owen10ozzy, and SirBenson had the most with three scoring picks.  Ben and Owen top scored through their scoring picks and the was enough to see OWen home for the win.  AlciG, Be_the_Ball, Davie, EmmDee57, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, McLaren, Pedro, Sand, SetupDetermines, and WireTapper all had two scoring picks.  Eyetoldyouso, GPB, and I'm Never Wrong all had one scoring pick.

Dustin Johnson earned points for AlciG, Be_the_Ball, Beninho, EmmDee57, LadyPutt, McLaren, Owen10ozzy, Sand, SirBenson, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver.

Love it or hate it the Stadium course certainly garners opinion and most of it centres around the shortest hole on the course; the 137 yard par 3 17th.  Often the location of the sudden death playoffs the 17th will this time be part of a three hole playoff comprising of holes 16-18 should the need arise.  Sudden death will resume on the 17th if there is still a tie.

Lots of the top players are in attendance with 48 of the top 50 in the world rankings taking part.  The top 24 are all present and correct with Dustin Johnson leading the way.  The missing players from the top 50 are Thomas Pieters and Brandt Snedeker.  113 out of 146 players from the top 200 are in attendance cranking up the world ranking points on offer in this event.

Jason Day is the defending champion having led wire to wire, the first to do so since Hal "Be the right club today" Sutton in 2000.  He will be hoping to be the first man to win back to back titles in the 44 years the Players has been run.  There has only been six multiple winners and Jack Nicklaus has come the closest to defending having won it three times in a five year spell.  Hal Sutton, Fred Couples, Steve Elkington, Davis Love-III and Tiger Woods are the other players to have won it more than once.  Elkington has the second shortest time between wins with seven years separating his.  All the others have taken over 10 years to capture a second crown.  Other former winners who are in the field are Rickie Fowler, Martin Kaymer, Matt Kuchar, K.J. Choi, Henrik Stenson, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, and Adam Scott.  Recent missing winners from the last 10 years are Tiger Woods, Tim Clark, and Stephen Ames.

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Of the thirteen Fantasy Leaguers that scored points Jon Rahm earned points for twelve of them courtesy of his opening round of 68. Alex Noren also shot 68 to join Rahm in the Top 5 Low Round scores; SirBenson was the beneficiary of Noren's fine play. The only other pick to score points was Pedro's Mackenzie Hughes who tied William McGirt for the lead with a 67. Pedro also had Rahm. AlciG, Beninho, Davie, Eyetoldyouso, GPB, LadyPutt, Owen10ozzy, SetupDetermines, Super_Realist, TheCleaver, and WireTapper all picked Rahm.

The cut line fell at +2 and that was good news for GPB as two of his picks made it on the number and that ensured the full set for the weekend. Eyetoldyouso was the closest of the four Fantasy Leaguers to have eight picks make it through. His pick of Luke List missed the cut by one while Owen10ozzy, Pedro, and Sand had their pick miss by some way. Five Fantasy Leaguers, AlciG, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, and TheCleaver, also earned two cut bonuses through seven picks. Low scores proved to be relatively elusive; just seven players broke 70 and another ten broke par. The Top 10 Low Round scores mark was 71 and nine Fantasy League picks managed to do that and Pat Perez was the best of the bunch shooting 66 for the low round of the day. I'm Never Wrong and TheCleaver both had Perez in their picks. TheCleaver also had three other picks in the points and that catapulted him up the leaderboard. Davie, Kwinigolfer, Owen10ozzy, Sand, and SetupDetermines all had three picks score points. AlciG, Be_the_Ball, GPB, I'm Never Wrong, LadyPutt, McLaren, Pedro, Super_Realist, and WireTapper all had two picks score points. Beninho and EmmDee57 both had one pick score points.

There was a secondary cut after Saturday's play and eight Fantasy League picks fell by the wayside. Eyetoldyouso was impacted the most, he lost three picks. An up and down day at The Players Championship saw big name contenders drop like stones down the leaderboard and lesser names move into contention. Si Woo Kim mastered the windy conditions the best as his bogey free round of 69 was only bested by two players, Dustin Johnson and Brendan Steele who both shot 68, as he showed remarkable composure to close out a three shot win over Ian Poulter and Louis Oosthuizen.

Scoring picks proved to be fairly elusive as ten picks finished in a scoring positiom. Beninho, Owen10ozzy, and SirBenson had the most with three scoring picks. Ben and Owen top scored through their scoring picks and the was enough to see OWen home for the win. AlciG, Be_the_Ball, Davie, EmmDee57, Kwinigolfer, LadyPutt, McLaren, Pedro, Sand, SetupDetermines, and WireTapper all had two scoring picks. Eyetoldyouso, GPB, and I'm Never Wrong all had one scoring pick.
