Best autobiographies to read?
I found Calzaghe's and Froch's autobiographies rather forgettable if I'm honest. Currently starting Hatton's one, War and Peace. Was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for autobiographies that are generally, a very good read. Was told to try Four Kings already, any other suggestions? cheers

Leonards and Tysons are ones I'd recommend. Very entertaining. I read four kings before Leonards but it's worth reading both even if they cover the same fights.
Greb's is worth a read to find out about him. Not as entertaining as the other two though.
Making Haye was gripping also.

Nothing will compare to the absolute w*nk-a-thon that would be Floyd Mayweather's autobiography. When they search for a replacement for Guantanamo, all they'll need is a regular prison but the only change is that the library will only stock copies of Floyd's bio.

I liked Tyson's, only problem was it was very repetitve. Just basically drink, drugs and sex and a bit of fighting here and there.

muffwig... if you go the boxing homepage, near the top you'll see a section 'the human windmill boxing vault'... it has threads and articles that are archived or stickies... the top thread is a 'boxing book review' one. There will be a few autobio's discussed in there amongst some other recommended reads.

I can save you bother of reading Ricky's one- it's basically lad from council estate wins world tiles, fights Floyd & Manny, he's from a council estate, friends with Oasis, gets depressed, oh, and did he mention he's from a council estate? I love Ricky, but this book doesn't tell you anything you don't know.
Tyson's is good, as is Twice bitten about him and Holyfield, and Bad blood about Eubank and Benn.

Re: Best autobiographies to read?
Here is a few biographies and autobiographies (there is a difference) worth a read
Biographies
Sam Langford - Boxing's Greatest Uncrowned Champion - Clay Moyle
Joe Gans - Colleen Aycock
Tunney - Jack Cavanaugh
Ezzard Charles - William Detloff
Charley Burley and the Black Murderers Row - Harry Otty
Autobiographies
Gloves, Glory and God - Henry Armstrong (hard to get hold of but worth the effort)
Hard Road to Glory - Johnny Nelson (surprisingly)
Max Schmeling - Max Schmeling
Avoid the autobiographies of Benn, De La Hoya and Billy Walker like the plague, they are terrible

If you can handle a little schmaltz try...."Ray Mancini. ..The good son".
Is a thoughtful and interesting piece on a humble, colorful and underrated fighter...
Has been made into a movie but don't let that put you off...

Try the killings of Stanley Ketchel i found it a very good read. (If you like a decent non boxing one read Garincha's autobiography is the best sports book I have read).

Jack Johnson biography was my favourite. Liked hands of stone as well.
