The Italian Open went to a playoff which was contested by Fantasy League pick Martin Kaymer and the unheralded, in Fantasy League terms, Rikard Karlberg.  Karlberg triumphed at the second extra hole.  In the Fantasy League a three way tie for the top spot was also determined by a playoff.  AlciG and BlueCoverman managed to join SirBenson at the top of the tree.  All three of them had Martin Kaymer, all three of them had third place finisher Matthew Fitzpatrick.  Both AlciG and BlueCoveman had another third place finisher in David Lipsky and Danny Willett respectively and SirBenson didn't.  The next best finisher for AlciG was Romain Wattel in 10th, BlueCoverman could only show Jason Scrivener who finished 14th; AlciG won out on the 4th pick.  

With fourteen picks in the top 20 scoring positions and one also finishing joint last there were plenty of picks scoring points for the Fantasy Leaguers.  Beaten playoff participants BlueCoverman and SirBenson each had six picks score points.  Owen10ozzy also had six picks score.  McLaren joined AlciG in having five picks score points.  1GrumpyGolfer, Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, and LadyPutt all had four picks score.  Beninho, CJB, Davie, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Sand, SetupDetermines, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver all had three picks score points while Pedro had just two picks score points.

Joakim Lagergren had the round of the day with a 63, Robert Rock had a bad day with a 79.  Rock finished joint last with Rafa Cabrera Bello who also had a poor round.

The Italian Open sees some blasts from the past appear in its field as Constantino Rocca and former winner Mattias Gronberg come out to play.  There are seven other former winners including two time winner Hennie Otto who is also the defending champion.  The other playing winners are Robert Rock, Daniel Vancsik, Francesco Molinari, Gregory Havret, and Patrick Sjoland.  Recent winners that are missing include Julien Quesne, multiple winner Gonzalo FDez-Castano, and Fredrik Andersson Hed.  The field is again headlined by Martin Kaymer with fellow top 50 ranked players Danny Willett and Bernd Wiesberger.  

There are three Categories where you will need pick three players, plus reserve, from each one.  There are bonus points available if you get all of your picks through in any category.  Get all 9 picks through and you get an even bigger bonus.  It's all way down at the bottom in the scoring section if you are interested.

This is a full field with cut event, cut points will be available; see above.

RULES

Picking players: Unless stated, pick a total of 9 players as follows:

Pick 3 players from each category, plus a reserve per category.

Event winner: The person with the most total points at the completion of each event will be declared the winner. In case of a tie, those involved will match-off each picks' final position score in descending order. i.e. Player A's best finish vs. Player B's best finish, Player A's 2nd best finish vs. Player B's 2nd best finish, etc... until one's pick finishes better than the other(s).

If there is a tie after all 9 picks have been matched against each other, those involved will be declared co-winners.

Order of Merit: The person with the most total points at the completion of the season will be declared the Fantasy League Champion. If there is a tie for total points at the completion of the season, those involved will be declared Co-Champions.

Player Withdrawals: If you pick a player who withdraws during a tournament, that player will be eligible for points for all completed rounds and making the cut if they withdraw after the cut. It must be apparent that the player completed their round for them to be eligible for either the low round, worse round, top 5, or top 10 low round scores.  If a player withdraws before starting the tournament then your reserve will be put in that player's place. It is up to you to check that your players are in the starting field.

Holidays / Absences: If you will be absent for an upcoming event (e.g holidays) you may post the numbers on the most recent fantasy league event and the respective tournament(s) that apply or PM them to me.  Example: Pick 3 players and 1 reserve from each category and the relative event number or name: Players 4, 5, and 8, reserve 9 from Category A, players 1, 3, and 7, reserve 5 from Category B, players 1, 2 and 17, reserve 12 from Category C, Event #12.

Failure to submit picks: If you do not submit picks you will be awarded zero points.

Deadlines: Picks must ideally be submitted before the first drive is struck on the first day of the tournament.  However, late picks submitted after the tournament has begun must be for players who have yet to start (or are not showing a score on europeantour.com, PGATour.com, etc.), and these will not be valid unless they are seconded by any other league member.

All fantasy league disputes and discrepancies will be considered by the League Judge: LadyPutt. All decisions made by the League Judge are final.

Scoring seemed pretty good for the majority of Fantasy League picks. Only five picks are above par after round one and will need a good second round to make the cut. Nicolas Colsaerts produced a stunning round of 63 to take the lead by two shots from three other picks. Colsaerts earned points for Hibbz, Sand, and SirBenson whilst Davie wished he was a full pick. Two other picks shot 66 to make the top 5 low round scores and in doing so meant a number of Fantasy Leaguers were off of the mark in round one. Anyone knows what happens with a withdrawal if it occurs before after round 2?! Kofstad retired & was a pick so just wondered.

Your pick goes down the drain . . . . . . I'm pretty sure. But you still get credit for a "made cut", I'm pretty sure!

Yep, Kwini has it right. If your pick withdraws or gets DQ'd then you're SOL. It's even more annoying when it happens in round 1.

The Italian Open went to a playoff which was contested by Fantasy League pick Martin Kaymer and the unheralded, in Fantasy League terms, Rikard Karlberg. Karlberg triumphed at the second extra hole. In the Fantasy League a three way tie for the top spot was also determined by a playoff. AlciG and BlueCoverman managed to join SirBenson at the top of the tree. All three of them had Martin Kaymer, all three of them had third place finisher Matthew Fitzpatrick. Both AlciG and BlueCoveman had another third place finisher in David Lipsky and Danny Willett respectively and SirBenson didn't. The next best finisher for AlciG was Romain Wattel in 10th, BlueCoverman could only show Jason Scrivener who finished 14th; AlciG won out on the 4th pick.

With fourteen picks in the top 20 scoring positions and one also finishing joint last there were plenty of picks scoring points for the Fantasy Leaguers. Beaten playoff participants BlueCoverman and SirBenson each had six picks score points. Owen10ozzy also had six picks score. McLaren joined AlciG in having five picks score points. 1GrumpyGolfer, Eyetoldyouso, I'm Never Wrong, Kwinigolfer, and LadyPutt all had four picks score. Beninho, CJB, Davie, EmmDee57, Hibbz, Sand, SetupDetermines, Super_Realist, and TheCleaver all had three picks score points while Pedro had just two picks score points.

Joakim Lagergren had the round of the day with a 63, Robert Rock had a bad day with a 79. Rock finished joint last with Rafa Cabrera Bello who also had a poor round.
