The 16-year-old son of the 7-time F1 champion, who prefers to be called Mick, is beginning his career in Formula 4. Wonder how long it'll be before we see him in an F1 car. More importantly, what sort of state will F1 be in by then?

Mick Schumacher: Expectations must not be 'built too high'
Michael Schumacher's manager has called for expectations to be kept in check as the seven-time F1 world champion's son begins his career in Formula 4.
Mick Schumacher, 16, runner-up in the German kart championship last season, completed his first public test for the Van Amersfoort team on Wednesday.
"I'd like to ask that the expectations on Mick aren't built too high," Michael Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm said.
The F4 season begins at Germany's Oschersleben circuit on 26 April.

Just an update - Mick Schumacher, the son of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Michael Schumacher, claimed his first car racing victory at Oschersleben on Sunday, during the opening round of Germany's ADAC Formula 4 championship.

Of course worth noting that being related to a famous and successful driver is no guarantee of success. OK, the Schumacher name will probably open some doors, but we could end up with another Ralf rather than Michael, or another Bruno Senna rather than Ayrton...
On the other hand, I suspect Joelyon Palmer is a better racing driver than his dad ever was...
Good start though, getting a win at his first meeting.

You imagine all he will need to win is one minor championship & he will be elevated into F1 at 18, by a minor team. The name alone is a big enough pull, there will be companies throwing money at him & backing the re-emergence of the Schumacher name and, given the importance of financial backing in the sport, it will be hard to resist.

That is obviously a worry - that he will be drawn in to the big leagues before he's really ready (and who could blame him for not refusing).
That said, Felipe Nasr and Max Verstappen seem to be holding their own so far. If Mick is anything like his old man, in terms of talent and attitude, I could see him eventually winning a title or two, assuming he got a drive for one of the top teams.
Got off to a great start anyway. Be interesting to see if his star keeps rising...
