Old Moves Empty Old Moves

Post by Andthen1 Mon 23 May 2011, 4:05 pm

I was watchin WWE vintage other day and was showing Jericho Vs Finley from WCW quite a good match, Now finley kept using the old classic European Uppercut move which i havent seen for a while. Can anyone else think of moves you dont see much anymore?

Piledriver....

Obviously because it is banned (and a bit dangerous), but still I miss it.

Daniel Bryan uses the Euro Uppercut quite often doesn't he?

Can anyone confirm if this was used mainly for those wrestlers that were rubbish punchers? Maybe Cena should use it!

Tommy Dreamer has been using the piledriver every week in TNA/IW. He makes it look absolutely devestating, I've thought for a long time that he has the best piledriver in the business...other than Petey Williams.

I miss the German suplex. Other than Kurt Angle, I can't think of anyone outside of the Indys who uses it.

I miss Atomic drops too. And pumphandle slams Test style. And Sidewalk slams a la Big Bossman. I always like Bulldog's running poweslam too.

I know Barrett and Kane use it but it looked a lot more effective when Bossman did it. Barrett's physique doesn't look imposing enough to me. He has the height but other than that, he just looks like an average guy you'd find on the street.

Bossman was massive, looked incredibly imposing in a tough guy kinda way. Obviously he wasn't built like Hogan or Warrior but he looked like he could genuinely kill you if he felt like it. Barrett just looks like a guy who goes to the gym occasionally and happens to be about 6'5".

I really miss Mick Foley's Double Arm DDT - I haven't seen it used in years.

Errrrr that is Drew McIntyres finishing move - Future Shock DDT

Talking about the BossMan Slam, there is a big trend now of using older wrestlers finishing moves as norminal moves. Things like the sidewalk slam, and the DDT (when Jake the Snake used it, it was lights out - think how many times it is used now)

Whose to say in 20 years time if wrestling is still going strong, that people might be using Stunners, RKO's and AA's as inbetween moves before their own new finishers?

Think its a case of moves being recycled and starting again, just like the pg thing how far could they go with attitude era before they had to go back on themselves

I think that speaks volumes for the amount of times I've fast forwarded past Drew McIntyre matches. I never knew! Doh

Use to love the old abdominal stretch especially when the heel grabbed the ropes for leverage, much better than a reverse chin lock

I used to like when Razor Ramon would stretch the guys leg instead of grabbing the ropes, looked vicious as hell

I miss when wrestlers would play a good game of mercy at the start of a match, my favourite was Hogan and Warrior doing this at WM 6.
