The Rise and Fall of Northampton Town: From the bottom to the top, and back to the bottom again

The last 27 months for Northampton Town have been unpredictable to sum it up in one word. They were rescued from a relegation dog fight, taken to a playoff final, and now find themselves falling ever further in the endless pit that is 92nd place in the Football League.

When Aidy Boothroyd took the reigns on the 30th November 2011 the club lay 21st in League Two, or 89th in the Football League pyramid. After a period of dipping and peaking Aidy steered the club to a 20th place finish, just four points above the relegation zone.

The summer of 2012 was the first real chance for Aidy to mould the squad to his liking, and with the respect and reputation he carries, a chance to possibly attract players that bigger clubs could easily sign.
