Between 2000-2003 England won 12 games on the bounce against the big 3 southern hemisphere teams of nz, sa and Australia. That included winning away gainst all 3 teams. They also put 50 points on sa in one game. Will any NH ever get close to this domination again?

Yes they will but maybe not for a while.

yes, it will happen again. and my money is on France being the team to do it. once they get their balance right between union and top14. and get a proper coach in.

but i reckon will be at least 5 years, more likely 10-15, before the money and success of the french league translates into international dominance.

Anyone know what the longest winning runs against NH opposition look like for the big 3?

in the pro era, NZ were unbeaten by NH sides Nov93-Oct99, and Jun03-Oct07.

but, in the NH, Ire and Sco have never beaten the ABs and Wales's last victory was 1953. So unbeaten runs NH vs SH is really a 3 v 2 comparison, so slightly flattering the SH sides.

No doubt NZ have been the top side on average since professionalism started, but England's run 2000-2003 was remarkable.

Didn't France beat NZ three times in a row (94 and 95) winning a series out there (the only NH team to do so) - the try from the end of the world.

France won 2-0 in NZ in 94 then in 2009 'won' a 2 match series by a one point margin due to differential, though oddly no one seemed to know thats how the series could be won.ABs needed to win the second by 5 points to tie. They won by 4.

Between 94 and 2002 France were 6-4 up on NZ including the 99 wcup semi.

you are right, 93 was a typo, i meant to put nov 95. put them both down as they are more or less 4 years.

And that's why we rate France over here even when they look like p**h. They beat us more than most.
