Paulo Di Canio sacked

Always going to come, probably the right time to leave.

Did give the Sunderland fans an amazing day in beating Newcastle 3-0 so ill imagine he will always be very well liked for that, but results have been poor this season, losing 3-1 against Palace says it all.

Who now?

Poyet is too similar IMO.

Harry would be a good shout. Maybe Di Mattio.

Need someone to come in and get the best out of the players they have signed this summer.

To be honest not really sure why Di Canio got the job anyways, he won League 2 on a budget where it was almost harder not to win it.

Yeah he was bossing league one as well though don't forget before falling out with the owners. Personally i wouldn't want Di Canio as my clubs manager, his basic man management skills just don't seem to be there, and he always surrounds him and the club with controversy. Ill imagine he will be back in management before the season is over though. Probably with a Championship club.

I wouldn't worry Jack, enough damage may have already been done. He's left an awful squad behind.

Got rid of their best player and has alienated 2 of the big dressing room players in Cattermole and Bardsley. He's made some massive mistakes. Footballers have too much power these days and this has proven it.

Hmmmmm you see i don't think there squad is that bad. Di Mattio would do well there.

Didn't think it would last long, and it hasn't. Surprised he wasn't given a bit more time though.

Now who's that figure in the distance? Is it 'Arry Houdini, ready to take on another Great Escape, before spending millions on dross and taking Sunderland into a long downward spiral?

I think he was right to get rid of Sessegnon. He looked disinterested under MON last year and was nowhere near the player he was a couple of seasons ago.

They've got a horrible set on fixtures coming up. They could very well be adrift of everybody else by November ala QPR last season.

Can't see Redknapp leaving QPR. Too far away from home and I doubt they'll pay him what QPR are paying him.

He's currently 3rd favourite for X Factor and an outsider to be the next pope.

You're right Freek. I think Ashley even offered to arrange for Redknapp to travel up from Bournemouth by helicopter, but he didn't want to move.

Di Matteo 1/3 at Sky bet. If he gets the job it begs the question why didn't Sunderland go for him in March as he was available then rather than appoint Di Canio.

Yeah Redknapp i doubt would want the Sunderland.

He does generally seem to be enjoying QPR and has a great relationship it seems with the owners, already it looks like he will take QPR up so i recon he will stay put.

Doing well, also his wife wanted to move back when he was at Burnley.

Di canio whilst ridiculous will do well with lesser players as his ridiculous demands for commitment and perfection in training and preparation will have dividends.

Unfortunately mid and lower level pl footballers are spoilt and millionaires for playing well once every 5 games and will always let him down and get him sacked.

Will get another team promoted and then go to Italy where professionalism is second nature and do well.

It was only a matter of time from the moment he got the job , stupid appointment in the first place he hadn't done anything to warrant getting a Premier League job . 

Sacked because of his management style , if the owners didn't know that that is his style then who did they think he was employing ?

Zola is an interesting one. Always been a big fan of his management. Probably the best manager in the Championship. Also a lot better than Poyet, Pulis and McGlish who are strong favorites.

Name me a better manager than Zola in the Championship? McDermot and of course Harry are the only other ones i can think off.

Yeah it will be interesting to see what Gus can do in the Premiership because he has done a superb job in management with Brighton. But obviously still had a lot of faults. Ill wish him well in the Prem and ill say a big good luck to Sunderland fans, i hope there patient with him. But he is quite similar to Di Canio IMO. Di Mattieo would be there best bet, as he is completely different to the pair of him. Perfect choice.

Billy Davies, Nigel Adkins and Mick McCarthy are 3 better managers I can think of off the top of my head.

Not too sure about Di Matteo being the designated firefighter myself although to be honest I'm not sure who available can do a job with that lot.

Mick McCarthy is a brilliant manager.

Replacing Di Canio with Poyet is like replacing a hand grenade with a IED

Not denying McCarthy isn't a brilliant manager, i just simply feel Zola is better and i recon either him or Di Mattieo would be the ideal candidate for the Sunderland job.
