comedy film stars that are just not funny

well title pretty much explains this thread . Martin Lawrence from any film he made  

Adam sandler has to be the obvious one for me

Recently started to take a dislike to Vince Vaughan (dodgeball aside of course)

Eddie Murphy for me, I just don't like him.

Adam Sandler is not funny.
Vince Vaughan has never been funny.
Will Ferrell isn't that funny.
Steve Martin used to be funny.
Eddie Murphy used to be funny.
Ben Stiller isn't that funny.
Jim Carrey used to be funny.
Owen Wilson is not funny.
Rob Schneider was funny...once.
The guy that played Stiffler in American Pie. He isn't funny.

Who is funny then?

Anything with Adam Sandler. Have always disliked the man but when he managed to persuade Al Pacino to appear in that witless cross dressing drivel he did a while ago my hatred became almost pathological.

Yeah, decent list not a huge Jack Black fan but other than that spot on

Two in particular Paul Rudd and Jason Segal - Superb. I love you man is one my favourite movies of recent years, never fails to make me laugh

Ricky Gervais - OK, he's predominantly a TV star, but he's just not funny. Also Russell Brand isn't a funny actor at all.

Simon pegg and his fat friend - not funny!

Think from most people's list there is at least 1 film they will have stared in that most people would find funny.

To name some:

Adam Sandler - Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Longest Yard, Little Nicky, Anger Management
Will Ferrell - Anchorman, Talladega Nights, Old School
Simon Pegg/Nick Frost - Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz

Obviously they all have plenty of films where they aren't funny but I would guess most people find a film they appear in funny.

Hodge I can assure you when it comes to Sandler I am the exception that proves your rule as I am yet to see anything with him in that even comes close to raising a smile with some of them downright offending me with how witless and lacking in merit they are. That one where he plays the hairdresser is a particular offender.

You've just given me a very good idea Womble - if I set up a Will Ferrell fan club I could massacre everyone who attends, thus removing the need for Ferrell films & subsequently the need for Ferrell himself.

I loathe Simon Pegg actually, he's the very definition of not funny!

Some Will Ferrell films aren't that good. Blades of Glory is poor, Talladega Nights has a couple of bright spots but otherwise terrible, Step Brothers is poor too, but then you have all-time classics such as Anchorman, Wedding Crashers (okay, bit part), Old School, Elf - he's done some great stuff.

Yeh De Niro should definitely stick to non-comedy roles!

I'd also put Sacha Baron Cohen into the list of the unfunny, but then he redeemed himself rather with his role in Les Miserables.

Baron was also good in Hugo.

Is that zoolander? Actually watched it twice although never sober, so bad it made me laugh a few times. The one I had to stop watching after 10 minutes was Jack&jill with poor al pacino. That's really awfull stuff.

having had a look at all your lists i think it would have been easier to find actors that we do find funny.

with regards to the topic jack black would have to be my number 1, although special mention to russell brand when he's in anything. and noel fielding on tv

Anyone who does not find Eddie Murphy funny does not know comedy or has ''issues''. The man was the comedic face of a whole generation and has made some of the greatest, funniest comedies ever made.

Eddie Murphy falls under 'was funny' category. Trading Places and Coming To America were two of the best comedies of the 80's.

He did do Coming to America and Trading Places that are pretty good though.

And came through a relationship with mental spice, or whatever her name was, and still kept his manhood intact. Deserves some credit for that.
