Utd's New Man Empty Utd's New Man

Post by Stella Wed May 08, 2013 8:10 am

IF Sir Alex does finally hang up his hair dryer, who should be the man to replace the legendary Scot?

Jose? - Proven in the EPL and Europe but may jump ship after two - three seasons.

Klopp? - Has formed a very good team at Dortmund but has not managed in the EPL and has a little to prove.

Moyes? - Has made Everton a tough hard working unit, and has Fergie's inner steel qualities but is that enough? Hasn't won a single thing in over 10 years of management.

Anyone else?

I don't think United would want the whole circus that comes with Jose .

Moyes i think will be their choice .

If Benitez didnt give a pretty obvious clue that Mourinho was turning Blue again, I would put money on Mou. While I am talking about Mou, anyone realise he always manages teams which have colours as the nickname?
Chelsea- The Blues
Inter- the Black and Blues
Madrid- The whites
Porto- Blue and Whites

Obviously couldnt join the Devils then.

Fergi is an impossible man to follow, a short term manager 2/4 years might be the right choice for now.

Jose would be my pick, Moyes imo wouldn't work as you're trying to replace like for like which rarely works and it would be the bigger risk.

Klopp outsider but who knows.

Not to mention the Madrid squad doesn't seem to like Jose much

As a liverpool supporter I would love to see big sam get the job. Think it will probably be moyes though in the end after a lot of speculation and rumours regarding certain foreign managers.

I'm shocked the Premier League haven't announced they're swapping Man Utd's fixtures, so his last game is at Old Trafford.

I'd like to see Klopp in charge. He plays nice football, is a good "young" manager and knows how to win but he'll have to ditch the cap. I'd be satisfied with Moyes but he plays God awful football at times however if he brought Fellaini I'd warm to him.

So, so interesting. Been looking forward to this for a while, it will be one of the most interesting storylines in football. Do Manchester United go the way of modern football and look for instant success, do they sack their manager if things aren't going well despite Ferguson lasting 26 years. I think their next appointment will send a message of how they plan to go. Appoint Moyes, and I think they will take a similar route to Fergie, appoint Mourinho and they are going for the modern approach.

I don't think Benitez will know anything from the inside about Mourinho, I only took from his comments that he was pointing out that everybody thought it was going to be Mourinho. This slightly changes things, as Mourinho might see the United job as a much better fit, no Abramovich, not as hard a task as Chelsea are still quite far away from being a title winning side and it's a new challenge.

This summer, we will see at the very least the Chelsea, Manchester United jobs up in the air, with the possibility of Real Madrid, PSG, Everton also all having managerial vacancies, with Bayern Munich also gaining Pep Guardiola after having perhaps their most successful year ever.

If anybody thought the season was boring, the managerial roundabout is certainly not going to be.

Surely we won't know until the end of the season? They wouldn't appoint Moyes while he's still got games left at Everton.

Also, if Moyes arrives, does that increase the likelihood of Rooney leaving? Didn't they have a falling out around the time he left, and with rumours already growing that Rooney wants to go, the appointment of Moyes could essentially push him out of the door.

I fear for Everton, I think even if Moyes does stay they're facing a tough summer as I can see a lot of clubs swooping around their top players, if Moyes leaves it will only be exasperated.

Who do people think will take the Everton job if Moyes does leave? Mark Hughes? Or has his reputation gone down the pan now? Allardyce maybe?

Moyes is the perfect guy for the job. Keep it Glaswegian in the family, we all know Glasgow bosses are the best, look at the amount in the EPL Wink But seriously look at what he has done with Everton without much cash, he could work wonders with a bigger team imo, only option as the won't go for huge name. Guys like Klopp and Jose are pipe dreams

well i heard they were announcing within 48 hours (assuming this will be to do with shareholders etc)

If it comes as quick as this afternoon then that'll be a hell of a quick turnaround, but I would imagine they've been contemplating this for a while.

Read into it what you will but I believe Everton have arranged a press conference for tomorrow at 11am. If Moyes gets it I can't help but think Baines would be a United player by the start of next season

With the betting, it appears to be a straight two-horse race between Moyes and Mourinho. One that Moyes is winning I might add.

I must admit, if I were a United fan, I'd rather have Mourinho. He's a proven manager with European experience and trophies. Lots of trophies. And big club experience.

Moyes has done well on a limited budget at Everton, but what has he actually won in his managerial career? The Football League Second Division in 2000 with PNE. Plus, he has little European experience, and has never managed a big club.
