Wii U and Nintendo Empty Wii U and Nintendo

Post by Guest Sun Mar 24, 2013 5:23 am

Anybody got one of these yet or thinking of getting one? Have to say - in this country at least - that it's been terribly promoted. There's hardly been any hype whatsoever.

Being a bit of a Mario junkie I have dithered over getting one but I'll wait until either the price goes down or they release some noteworthy games.

You do wonder whether this could signal the winding down of Nintendo (console wise) what with the PS4's release this year and the new XBOX in the pipeline. Take out the exclusive titles and what have you really got?

Cheers guys.

I doubt it, Nintendo has a niche as the family console, and it paid off with the Wii outselling the PS360 duo.

They won't compete with Sony or Microsoft in their markets, but they do well enough from the younger market to make it worthwhile.

Cant see Nintendo changing from where it is, leading the family market and by the looks of things the PS4 will be the gamer console(the one developers also prefer) and will be more focused on gaming compared to the new xbox which will apparently use Kinect or something like that.

Nintendo really have the hand held market nailed down too. I own a psp and vita, but still think the DS kicks rump compard to them, because PSP and Vita games tend to be conole games converted to handheld, where as the DS games feel designed for handheld, easier to justpick up play and then put bak down.

I got a Wii U yesterday (Premium console + Mario Kart 8 and Lego City, second hand for £180)

Absolutely brilliant and a considerable improvement on the Wii. Still expensive to buy new but plenty of bargains online if you don't mind pre-owned. Also got the new Mario Bros U and Luigi U games coming in the next week, that'll be me leaving the Xbox off for a few weeks at least!

If you want to call a nation of children and parents "little gay boys" then so be it. Family friendly gaming has never been so good.

Also, a Brighton fan calling other people gay Laugh

I actually find that comment quite offensive and as such have reported it to the moderation team.

Homophobia has no place in modern society, be it a forum or a football stadium.

Just purchased Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, £28 for a new game is okay, really good reviews considering it'll be a game for me and my daughter to play together. She's 4 (and a half) years old and frighteningly good at Mario Kart 8 for her age, so something different would be good to give me a chance of winning Laugh

What a way to resurrect this thread.

Made Nintendo a lot of money for a "pretty crap" console, mind.

I'm actually still playing my Wii U. Got one last year with a Pro Controller, Mario Kart and Zelda Breath of the Wild for £100

Not bothered about Pokemon, and Mario Kart 8 is the same game so can't justify getting a Switch.

It's also got free online play which is a result.
