Jim Croce Empty Jim Croce

Post by 88Chris05 Wed 20 Mar 2013, 11:27 am

Have just discovered this fella's music in proper depth recently. My old man was a massive fan so I'd heard his stuff throughout the house when I was a very young kid. Naturally, at the time, I thought it was absolute pap, as most kids aged about six or seven would!

Older and wiser now, I've started getting in to him and some of his stuff is brilliant. Obviously his 'prime' was cut short by his death aged 30 but I think he's seriously underrated going by how few people really know if him.

Any other fans out there?

Have just listened to a couple of songs and quite like them, think I'll have to do some investigating.

You might like Rodriguez if the songs from Jim Croce I've just listened to are anything to go by

Yep I just discovered time in a bottle myself Chris. What a beatiful yet haunting tune. Not a massive fan of folk music but you can't deny real talented musicians.

Yep, me too.

I went to a funeral the other morning and this was one of the songs played during the service. Really has some haunting lyrics, especially in that context. I will endeavor to listen to some more.

You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the ol' lone ranger
And You don't mess around with Jim Cool
