Team of the week
Top 5 from Week 1
I don't know how well this will work but let's give it a try anyway.
The idea is for people to put down and discuss the top 5 of whatever from the weekend's action whether it be teams, players, plays, moments, mishaps etc
I'll start off with the top 5 team performances:-
1) Ravens - Totally dominant.
2) Jets - Possibly their not as bad as people thought.
3) 49ers - They seem to have comeback stronger this year.
4) Bears - With a fit Cutler & Forte + new additions of Marshall, Bush & Jeffery they will surely give the Packers a run for their money in the NFC North?
5) Buccaneers - Brought Newton down to earth.

I went with the Redskins. They look much improved from last year and had a great win against the Saints in the Superdome.

I've gone for the Bucs.
The turnaround from last season was huge. Coming off 10 straight defeats, and restricting the Panthers the way they did was pretty impressive.
I'd have Redskins in second.

Going into New Orleans, a team theoretically much better than them based on all forms of recent history and one who was likely looking to silence the offseason long rumours regarding bountygate all with a rookie QB, no particularly heralded receivers or running backs and to do it via a mini shootout...

Went for the Broncos as they look like a compeltely different team from last year with Manning. If they keep Manning fit can't see them not taking the conference

I went 49ers. Very impressed watching them against my Packers. I know it was only one game, but they are looking very good for decent post-season...
Redskins a close 2nd.

Re: Top 5 from Week 1
I'm leaving myself wide open to accuations of blatant bias here but I've gone for the Redskins. I could basically copy and paste Crazy Dave's post in here for my reasons why.
Beating a fired up Saints team in a shootout in the Superdome, a venue in which they didn't lose last season or even trailed by more than 10 points in any game and doing it with a rookie QB and overcoming losing our top WR during the first half..... I'll be honest, I'm not sure this poll is even close
Honourable mention to the 49ers though - impressive work going to Green Bay and winning.

Had to be the 49ers going to Lambeau and handling the Pack

Ah come on Brahma, they did well but it wasn't going to one of the noisiest and most hostile venues in the NFL and beating a future HOF QB with a rookie QB in his first game!

Re: Top 5 from Week 1
Bias would make me think the Bucs. The team who had the worst rushing defence in the league last year equalling a Franchise record. They grabbed 2 picks and held the Panthers one of the better rushing teams in the league to 10 yards. That is a fine performance. Problem was it was mostluy the defensive side, not too great on the offensive side. #
49ers seemed to do quite well in both departments, soI'm going for them

Re: Top 5 from Week 1
But come on lads, the Redskins.... a team with just 2 winning seasons in the last 12.... a team that has only won 15 games the last 3 seasons.... a team that could barely score more than 20 points in a game for the last decade.... a team that hadn't scored 40 points in a game since 2005.... went to the Superdome to play a team that didn't lose there all last season and who have arguably the best QB in the league and beat them while scoring 40 points.... and beat them while allowing that outstanding QB to complete less than 50% of his passes while their own rookie QB turned in officially the best ever performance by a rookie QB in a winning effort in his first game.
No disrespect to the 49ers but they were a good team last year and clearly still are this year. If they are the contender that we all think they are then should be expecting to go to Green Bay and get a win. The Redskins effort on Sunday was just nothing like anything they've produced in years and they may well struggle to produce anything like it again this season. That they did it with a rookie QB, a rookie RB, without their star WR for most of the game and a patchwork secondary surely makes it the most impressive performance of the weekend???

The Saints were pretty poor though, it was a great performance and everything and they deserve immense credit. If it were any other week I would probably say the Redskins

Re: Top 5 from Week 1
Bit disappointed no mention of the Pats impressive performance. I know it was only the Titans, but the defence looked a lot better, and we had a running game.
But for me this week it has to be the 49ers. They looked immense, and like the best team in the NFL. Shout out to the Bucs and Skins as well

The Redskins usually start off decently under Shanahan then fall apart hilariously. I'm waiting for RG3 to get benched for audibling for something that bruising Shanahan Jr's ego.
