Very sad news.

A kind, courteous, knowledgeable man of the old school.

I remember his amateur days and later career as a broadcaster, particularly on
the National Hunt.

A true Gentleman and a true Corinthian. He loved racing,he loved horses but more than anything he loved the people connected with them.An amateur in every sense of the word in that he rode because he loved it and although he sometimes came across as a mumbling, bumbling fool in front of the camera,he wrote with tremendous passion and not inconsiderable knowledge about a sport which had become his life and soul. His charity work knew no bounds and the Injured Jockeys Fund was his revelutionary and forward thinking vision.A man of small stature but an absolute giant in others.God Bless.
