- Tottenham v Chelsea:
These two teams kicked off both unbeaten, Tottenham sitting pretty at the top of the league, and Chelsea knowing defeat would leave them with a mountain to climb if they wanted to win the league. It showed in the early stages as it began very cagey with neither team wanting to concede an early goal. However, after twenty minutes Tottenham got the first big chance when Fellaini shrugged off Veloso and played in Damiao but Cahill deflected the shot away to safety. Chelsea responded well and Di Maria beat Baines and crossed in which was half cleared by Caulker but only as far as Marin who composed himself before opening the scoring. Tottenham went out in search of the equalizer quickly and Ivanovic was drawn out of position by Bale freeing Baines down the left wing who burst into the box and blasted a powerful shot past Cech to level the scores up at half time.
Modric played a through ball through early on in the second half and found Dzogaev who blasted a great chance wide. Tottenham continued to create chances and Damiao hit the crossbar after evading Cahill in the box. Tottenham brought on Guidetti and Sterling, and it was Sterling who got a cross in after beating Cole down the right and Fellaini's late run into the box was un-noticed and he blasted home what seemed to be a late winner for Tottenham. Chelsea brought on Torres and Mata found him with a through ball, but the striker was brought down by Caulker as Chelsea appealed for penalty, which was given. Mata stepped up to take it and went for the bottom right, Julio Cesar went the right way but couldn't quite keep it out of the net as Chelsea won a late point.

There were two quality sides out on display today. Both teams had their strengths and weaknesses. Tottenham have more quality in the centre but are lacking a little defensively, while Chelsea have so much quality in attack.

- Readng v Aston Villa:
Reading had made a bright start to the season but have come crashing back down after a few defeats, and they were up against the draw specialists Aston Villa who were still looking for that first win of the season. Reading made a good start and Kebe played a good cross in but Dunne beat Drogba in the air and it went to Aquilani. He quickly got the ball forward to Demba Ba who shrugged off Gallas and got into the box, sidefooting a low shot past Federici. Aston Villa were spurred on by this and doubled their lead straight after when good work from Weiss won a corner, which was whipped in and Federici dropped it in a terrible mistake which Ba pounced on and blasted home an easy second. Reading slowed down their play and look to hold onto the ball with Henderson and Whitehead seeing a lot of it, and they had one chance before half time when Henderson had a free kick saved by Given.
The second half saw Reading come out with more purpose and McAnuff made a good run and played the ball across to an unmarked Rangel who blazed a shot well wide. But five minutes later they did get the goal they needed when Nolan burst into the box to meet Kebe's cross and give Reading hope. They sent more men forward looking to earn a point and Jerome who came off the bench missed a good chance and Drogba sent a header wide. But they were caught on the break and Petrov won possession and played a long ball up to Ba who got one on one with the keeper, and went for power which left Federici with no chance as he completed his hat trick to win them the game.

Dunne and Olsson worked very hard to keep Drogba quiet. With him out of the game Reading lacked ideas. Nolan was the pick of the midfield but they couldn't get the better of a well drilled Aston Villa side. Demba Ba was superb and took his hat trick well. The Reading defense couldn't deal with his power.

- Man United v Swansea:
Manchester United were looking to bounce back after a disappointing draw against Fulham. Swansea look like they could head towards the European places with some strong performances, and it looked like they would do just that in the early stages as they opened the scoring in the first minute. Straight from the kick off Kagawa played the ball across to Schurrle who played a long ball to Benzema who hit the bar. Rodwell robbed Strootman of possession and found Pablo Hernandez who made a terrific run into the box and was hacked down by Evra. Ramsey stepped up to take the penalty and blasted it straight down the middle to open the scoring. Swansea kept pushing and Corluka crossed for Adebayor who beat Hummels in the air and scored his second. Manchester United tried to pull a goal back before half time and Valencia's pinpoint cross found Benzema who got this header on target but Howard superbly tipped it round the post.
Man United improved in the second half and Maicon made a great run down the right and played a one two with Valencia. He played in Scholes who shot from just outside the area, beating Howard to pull a goal back. Man United were dominating the possession and Dann's last ditch tackle prevented Benzema getting a shot away and Swansea hit on the break, Johnson playing a long ball to Hoilett who caught Maicon out of position. He was bearing down on goal and Hummels had to come across and he pulled the ball back to Ramsey, whose shot seemed destined for the top corner but Lindegaard made a superb save. Man United finally equalized when Schurrle's corner found the head of Vidic who beat Johnson to score. There were still three minutes of injury time to play and in the 94th minute Kagawa played a one two with Benzema before curling the ball past Howard to give United a lucky win against a brave Swansea side.

Man United were very lucky to come away with the points today. Swansea seemed more hungry for the win but Man United have more quality in their side and improved on previous weeks.

Goals from Berbatov and Michu gave Fulham an easy win today.

Fulham put in a good display against a Newcastle side which didn't show up.

- Liverpool v Everton:
The Merseyside derby kicked off with both teams in the European positions and looking to achieve Europe next season. It was Liverpool who made the brighter start when Krasic made a good run and passed to Cabaye. His delicate chip found Rossi who did well to control but Vorm reacted quickly and came out to narrow the angle. Everton were quick to close down the Liverpool midfielders when they got the ball and Diame won possession from Suarez, and played a simple pass to Pranjic who found Sinclair who easily beat Van Der Weil and crossed but Skrtel superbly cleared. Everton had the last chance of the half when Sinclair again beat his man but this time cut in and found Jelavic who sidefooted his shot past Reina but it hit the post and went out for a goal kick.
Everton started the second half as they finished the first, and Pranjic passed to Jelavic who was knocked down by Hangeland to give Everton a free kick. Pranjic took it and a well timed run from Jagielka meant he got to the ball first and his header got a fantastic save from Reina. Everton were not having it all their own way and Suarez run through Diame and Parker and played a through ball to Rossi who curled the ball past Vorm and ran away to celebrate but they were cut short by the offside flag, which in the end seemed the right decision. Liverpool had another chance late on when Johnson was hacked down by Enrique and Liverpool won a free kick. It was sent into the box and Hangeland smashed a header but Vorm made a terrific save to keep the scores level.

This was one of the best examples of a 0-0 draw that I have seen. The Liverpool full backs struggled against Lennon and Sinclair and Everton made most of their chances there. Liverpool though have a bit more creativity in the centre and Everton seemed happy to sit back and let them dominate the centre. Liverpool lacked a bit of a cutting edge in Suarez and Rossi and could do with a clinical finisher.

- Norwich v Southampton:
These two teams looked like they could be kicking off a relegation six-pointer. Both teams are in the bottom five and could do with a win. Norwich came flying out of the blocks and made their gameplan clear when Pilkington crossed in and Holt tried to head it and beat Chico but it went just wide. Norwich were dominating the possession but Southampton were dangerous on the counter, with Richardson playing a great ball to Phillips who got into the box and shot but it went wide. Davis won possession from Allen and passed to Lallana who was brought down in the box by Bennett, giving Southampton a penalty. Jones stepped up to take it and sent Ruddy the wrong way but it hit the post and Distin cleared in the nick of time. Naughton made a fantastic run down the right and found Snodgrass who crossed in for Rhodes who opened the scoring on the stroke of half time to give Norwich a lead.
Southampton had two good chances early on in the second half with Jones blazing wide after good work from Phillips and Schneiderlin's long range effort being defected wide by Distin. But it was just before the hour mark that Southampton equalized when Jones held up the play well and freed Lallana who skillfully beat Bennett and delayed his shot before sidefooting home an equalizer. Norwich pressed and brought Hoolahan to try and find a winner. But despite making some good chances, Holt was wasteful in front of goal and missed the best chances they managed to create as the game ended in a draw.

Overall a draw was a fair result. The Southampton defense needs improvement but overall they set up very well and hit on the counter attack. Norwich also need to improve, particularly in midfield.

- Stoke v West Brom:
These two teams went out looking for their first wins of the season. West Brom got the first chance and Pienaar sent in a cross which Lukaku got on the end of to open the scoring early on. However, Stoke responded well and Figueroa made a great run down the left and played Diaby in to equalize just three minutes later. Palacios and Diaby were completely dominating the midfield and giving Stoke all of the chances and Michael owen gave Stoke a deserved lead on the half hour mark with a great finish, sidefooting home after good play from Diaby. Stoke got their third goal on the stroke of half time with Young's corner being smashed home by Robert Huth.
The second half was more of the same, Stoke absolute tore West Brom apart and Mirallas got a debut goal when he blasted home a long range strike. Stoke could have scored many more but were comfortable with their lead as West Brom rarely threatened in the closing stages.

West Brom didn't really know what they were doing, they just sent men forward in hope. Stoke were a lot better tactically and deservedly get their first win of the season.

- West Ham v Arsenal:
West Ham have greatly improved since CF left as manager, and they were looking to cause Arsenal some problems this week. Arsenal, on the other hand, needed a win to continue their title charge and they looked like they would do just that. Robin Van Persie used his pace to beat Carragher and chipped the ball over Robinson to open the scoring. West Ham were on the receiving end of wave after wave of attack with Cazorla impressing. He played in Van Persie but Carragher this time came across in the nick of time. Sagna made a great run down the right and played a one two with Podolski who passed at the far post and Gervinho smashed his strike well wide when he should have scored. Arsenal created further chances when Wilshere sent a long range shot wide and Podolski had a header superbly saved by Robinson.
Arsenal continued to attack and won a corner when Van Persie had a shot deflected wide by Wheater. The corner was pinpoint by Cazorla and it found Vermaelen who beat Diarra in the air and doubled the Arsenal lead. West Ham continued to press and Diarra won possession from Song and played the ball across to Drenthe who cut inside and blasted a long range shot but Lloris made an outstanding save. West Ham didn't give up and with two minutes of normal time to play and a great through ball from Krancjar found Shane Long who used his pace to break free and he hit his shot under Lloris to pull a goal back. West Ham sent everyone forward and substitute Chamakh beat Koscielny in the air and found Drenthe, who passed the ball to Noble who blasted home a late equalizer to give West Ham a hard fought point.

It was a smash and grab for West Ham who were worth a point today. They had a go at Arsenal and got their reward. Arsenal have a few weaknesses in their side that they need to sort, most notably Kieran Gibbs.

Chuffed with a draw whilst without Hazard and Llorente against a full strength Chelsea, thought I was going to come unstuck there.

Hmm bit disappointed with that result tbh. Midfield I thought was one of my stronger areas

Nah brahma improved this week tactically. It's possible to get results against the big teams if you set up right.

442 is a simple formation, the instructions were to focus on attack, i did not wish to alter things in any way, so no need for 150 words saying nothing. Statements such as fullbacks show men inside, midfielders win tackles etc aren't tactics - they are basics of the game pro players don't need.
I've only seen 1 manager post anything resembling tactics so far.

You need to say stuff like any man-marking, high line/deep line, rely on set pieces, etc.
If a manager said to his team just 'attack attack attack' before a game they'd be screwed.

I think this is actually quite a disservice to your opponent, he ws tactically far superior and deservedly got the victory.
You failed to give any tactics at all to your centrebacks, Your only tactics to Drogba was for him to run his socks off. Seriously what did you expect?

Really think SAF walks into the Old Trafford dressing room and just says Attack, attack, attack? He's not the villain from Mad Max 2. Yes a lot of the points mentioned are the basics but they are required at least to get across your point, otherwise it just looks like there's no effort and then a drubbing is all that's deserved.
Sorry guys, you get out what you put in. Look at Southampton, possibly the weakest side in the league, but due to the manager actually putting the effort in he's getting decent results against on paper much superior teams.

CBs: Dont allow them to beat you easily and put them under pressure.
Mid: Dominate the Midfield as it will be a key to victory in this match. dont allow them to many chances.
ST: be aware of Kagawa and make sure chances are not wasted.

Should be obvious who writes tactics an who writes and amateur league style team talk.
I will go back to writing detailed tactics- despite the fact I still lose every week when doing so.

Heven't played Spurs or Arsenal yet... cheers though mate. Thought it would be close and was hoping for a draw. As for VDW he really cannot defend...

He was fantastic back at the 2010 World Cup, looked a star in the making, just unfortunately he has gone backward since, actually if he went literally backward it would help as that's often his big problem, he's far too gung go, gets caught upfield far too often and fails to backtrack and is often a liability.

Well chuffed picking up my first league win of the season! 
Ba has turned out quite a signing, Pleased to keep on picking up points with Soton too, Although, I do agree about needing more defenders...
