Mark Petchey is my new hero in commentating. I have always held Peter Fleming in high royalty of commentating, but just for the analysis that Petchers did on Lopez was gold. Even Fleming applauded the analysis.

Absolutely.

Petchey's a master of the OTT comment. Wait long enough in every match and they'll be that "greatest point ever!" comment sooner or later. End of the 4th set in the Murray/Lopez match and there it was. Interspersed with more than the usual "unbelievable" he was on fine form.

Fleming in the way of contrast is so dour and bland armageddon could be hitting new York and you wouldn't get any kind of response.

Fleming bland? Older posters might remember Mark Cox's time as a commentator. Cox could make even the most exciting match sound dull.
Mind you, no one - however awful or useless - could do worse than former Wimbeldon champion Ann Jones whose stints in front of the mic were punditry's lowest point.
