Larry Olubamiwo banned for doping

Really liked big Larry, not the most talented but game and always gave it everything.
Disappointing but the most frustrating thing is this:

"He later admitted to using 13 banned substances, including human growth hormone and anabolic steroids, over a six-year period competing as an amateur and professional boxer."

How did he get away with it for so long?
Taking all those different drugs and nothing found until the Sexton fight.

Boxing has a serious problem and the only way I think it can be sorted is blanket olympic style testing including out of camp tests.

The man looked like a walking advert for steroids and surprise surprise he was. I'm glad he's been caught but the real problem is the fact he was able to get in the ring before he was caught.

I hope he never boxes again the man is scum.

Its obvious the sport is rife with them. Im not sure how long boxing can survive in its current capacity. Its a dangerous sport to begin with, and with so many steroid scandals emerging I think its only a matter of time before a motion is put forward to ban it outright. To corrupt and unregulated.

The craziest part of the article is that he has only been banned for 4 years... surely a lifetime ban should be the only option?

Personally I prefer a life ban and probably police charges for intent to assault or cause GBH.

But lets be fair here. Other boxers get a slap on the wrist and some (yes you Chavez) dont bother take tests. 4 years under those circumstances does seem excessive.

not that larrys been using drugs (that was quite obvious), but that boxing has actually caught someone!!!

Should have guessed this when all he could do was punch. Seemed to have little boxing skills and a really weak chin.

Heavyweight punches are damaging enough without boosting the power with steroids.

Especially considering the cocktail of stuff he was on.

They didn't do him much good though when a fat McDermott beat the living $£&! out of him.

He might have a growth deficiency problem like Chisora's brain and needed to be juiced up to function properly. Chavez expected to speak up for his best pal Larry later today.

You may find it funny, but knowing an ex boxer who suffered near fatal injuries from a non juiced boxer I find it sickening that a boxer will take such drugs as Larry did without full knowledge of the inherent dangers it involves. There's a slight difference between your promoter telling you that they will complain about a judges decision and your promoter (or whomever) telling you to take steroids and you agreeing and willingly taking them.
