Anyone else watching the match not a lot in it so far, I'm a bit worried with us having a pool of Fiji, Samoa and New Zealand, talk about painful!

Down to 14 with Morgan fresh off the bench, now's the time to score tries.

But i meant starting week in week out. Hes behind Biggar who has started to mature and not act like an idiot. Biggar is only 22/23 so its not like hes going any where. I'd hate for Morgan to have to move to get the rugby he needs to develop.

Well 9 starts, 13 sub games and 791 minutes is still pretty good, as well as 3 games for Swansea RFc, he seems to be being developed nicely.

Thanks for the stream. That is probably the strongest U20's team we could have put out, the bench is pretty good aswell and there is no Ieuan Evans(Pontypool no.8). Still don't think Sam Davies is up to the task though, Morgan is the starter for me.

Wales played well in the second half. They tried to outrun the Fijians out wide in the first forty minutes and it didn't work, the fijians held them up a number of times to turn a tackled ball into a mual and gained possession from it.

The fijian Physicality counted in the first 2 minutes, but then wales slowly started gaining control by using their superior technique in the scrums and line outs to dominate possession.

Fiji didn't manage to get into the welsh 22 once in the second half. Whilst Wales managed it 11 times.

Wales will do well to remember to keep their structure and not try and go too wide too early, but overall a very good win, taking revenge for their 34 - 20 loss last year.

That's a very good result and if the scrum is functioning well does that mean there's a decent TH out there Shocked Yahoo

Excellent result though. Was looking like another dodgy performance in the 1st half but fp to the boyos they came good. If you got a good pack then backs will always perform better.

Yup Sampson Lee is from an Irish travelling family apparently. So at least Wales or Ireland may have a decent tight head in a few years!

Ok lets make a new thread for the Samoa V Nz game.

Shocking journalism by the Western Fail

"Matthew Morgan inspires Wales win in Junior World Championship opener"

They do then go to mention he came on for 20 minutes when the game was already won.

I would be pretty p*ssed off if I was one of the Welsh forwards - as it was them who won the game, not the Fail's wonderboy.

I knows its only a points exercise right now but we all still do 'topping the pool' business even in the early stages.

So, my question is why are Wales topping their Pool (on IRB site) at this admittedly early stage having beaten Fiji 44 to 18, and New Zealand is running second on the list, having beaten Samoa 63 to 0?

I'm just asking for the logic in it given that the other pools seem to be running on the usual points amassed tallies? Anyone care to explain it to me, I'm more than ready to admit I might have been reading this whole pool position thing inaccurately all these years..

The IRB website is always poor and disorganised, but it could also be that Wales are simply more pro than New Zealand. kiss

Didn't we lose to Fiji in this tournament last year? If so, this marks a good turn around in the space of a year. Now, just don't lose by 96 points to NZ again and that will be another step in the right direction!

Yes Griff, although the WRU have now changed their selection policy they always pick a team a year younger than allowed, they pick 18/19 year olds where as most nations pick players who are 20. Wales have picked players who are 20 this season, to try and avoid a repeat of last years fiasco.

Great result.
Thanks for the thread guys. I missed the match through work commitments but reading your posts was as exciting as the game itself...!

Let's hope the lads can keep making a good account of themselves.

The saddest thing about this game is that is was shown live in the Middle East, and in South Africa but no one in Wales had access to it.

You can watch them here:
http://www.supersport.com/rugby/jwc-matches/video

But you'll have to be behind a proxy.

On firefox, click options, then on the advanced Tab, click settings, click manual proxy settings and type in.
HTTP Proxy: 41.78.239.194
port: 8080

click "ok"

That should work the site will think your from Zimbabwe, though I can't get the Welsh game to work, hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Remember to click "no proxy" after you have finished watching, its at the top above the manual setting.
