Great performance by Ennis. Nice to see rooney running consistantly under 45 and pozzi consistantly around 13.3.

Worth mentioning, in the women's sprints...

Abi Oyepitan recently ran the 100m in 11.21 [ +1.2 ] [ 26 May ]. That along with a windy 22.57 in the 200m a week or so back suggests that she might be coming into some really good form...

Just hearing (through Isabre) of a huge PB for Lawrence Clark. 13.33 into the wind. Moves him ahead of Pozzi.

Big meetings with lots of brits all over the place this weekend so plenty more to come.

Adam Gemili (U20) has just run 10.11 I think in Germany. 3rd on the British U20 AT list behind Chambers and MLF.

Edit: He's just done 10.08 in the final, moving him to second on the British U20 list, ahead of MLF.

Gemili is really interesting. Been watching some junior races on the internet recently [ following up on recent performances by Gemili and Balorinwa, placing putting them in the picture - see powerof10.info ]. It was Germany and apparently it was achieved after a poor start!

Could be looking at GB's next sub-10 second sprinter. Would be great if he was able to do that in the Olympics.

Also Conrad Williams 45.09 in Geneva closely followed by 4 other brits.

This is turning out to be a very special year.

from the BBC. I have been out of the loop for a while in mens athletics. I haven't heard of Dasaolu or Gemili, but there seems to many other names I have heard of missing.

Dasalou's 24 and made thebreakthrough about three years ago. Has a PB of 10.09 which he did in 2009.

Gemili has been progressing through the Juniors, pushed by fellow junior David Balorinwa. Had an eye on both, but expected Balorinwa to possibly edge it between the two. But Gemili's times and performances have been fantastic - beating Balorinwa on a few occasions ( though Balorinwa ran a PB of 20.69 over the 200 yesterday - I exepct Gemili now to faster over the 200m - perhaps 20.3 this season ].

Talking of sprinters, Christian Malcolm ran 20.46 over the 200 yesterday. That's Olympic A qualifier sorted.

All the above performances were from the Sparkassen Gala, Regensburg, GER [ Saturday 2nd June ].

It would be great if we could get at least one sprinter into each of the sprint finals - but not going to be easy...

Raises the question now with the trials only three weeks away : Chambers is now cleared to run in the Olympics , but is he a certainty to even make the team?

My bet would still be that he will do so , but these young fellows are going to make sure he earns his spot !

And good to see Williams with a (rather good !) A standard at 400 : up until now that event was looking a bit thin behind Rooney.

Clarke's time of 13.33 is confirmed [ see below link ]. Remarkable that he did with a -0.5m headwind! [ Worth perhaps 13.2 on a better day ]...

We do indeed have now what we might call some sort of depth in this event.

In the 100m, Gemili really has changed the game. He's been steadily improving and has now every chance of clinching a place at the Olympics, if he chooses to have a crack. I do believe that Chambers will be there too. But it is getting late into his career. I suspect he's working very hard in training and trying to time his peaks with trails and the Olympics...

Jo Pavey finishing second on 31.32.22 joins Julia Bleasdale with an A standard for London 2012 10000m.

One to watch for the future is Oliver Newport. Only 17 but jumped 7.70m yesterday.

Bingham hasn't appeared anywhere yet I believe?

HAA ran today - did 10.39 so not really there yet with his form.

Haven't heard about Leon Baptiste so under the radar at present I think.

Edgar did a very fast wind aided 100m yesterday so he may be back to form.

Pickering out for the season.

Tobin ran yesterday in Geneva but not as fast as several others.

Williamson has had a slow start so far.

Just adding to the list of sprinters, I'm looking forward to seeing Danny Talbot back in action (9th June I believe) and Delano Williams. The sprints will be a highlight of the trials with so many still in the mix.

Would be ironic and sad if Chambers doesn't make the cut.

Correction, Bingham has posted a mark of 45.87 this season.

UK record in Eugene for Barbara Parker 9:24.24 in the steeplechase. That's over 5 seconds faster than the previous record. Another potential finalist for the Olympics.

KJT has a very strong start to the heptathlon second day in Czech republic. Only 800m to come. She can now look forward to an olympic A qualification and 6200 plus is still on for the 19 year old.

Another youngster to look out for is Morgan Lake. Only 14 years old but an even better prospect than KJT.

KJT finishes with another PB in the 1500m to score a PB and UK U20 record of 6248. That represents an A standard for the Olympics.

Great stuff from KJT - great to see three women in the Hep in London.

I'm not sure you can say Morgan lake is a better prospect than KJT. She's just gone something like 7 all-time on the world junior list. Would take some talent to have better potential than that.

Some natural strength and improvement in the throws and she'll be medal potential at major champs, the rest of her events are very nearly world class in heptathlon terms.

Maybe you are right djlovesyou but she has already jumped 1.76 in the HJ and 6m in the LJ. That represents a lot of talent and potential for a 14 year old.

Also at Watford today Peri Shakes-Drayton set a PB of 51.24 for the 400m. Olympic A and Isobel Pooley cleared 1.90m, which is 2cm short of the B standard in the HJ.

Lots of other great performances by junior athletes this weekend.

Oh, I fully agree. It's a huge amount of talent.

Great stuff from PSD too, hopefully bodes well for an assault on 54 seconds.

So hope Pooley can get that 1.92 a couple of times, it would just leave on event that we don't have any qualifiers for I think.

Only just noticed that Jess Judd ran 2:01.09 at the Watford BMC. That's rapid.

Great stuff from Jessica Judd - most definitely one to watch. She' sbeen improving on times through the season. 2:01.09 is awesome!

Goes to 2nd all-time for U20 - but worth remembering that she's still only 17!

Huge to PSD too - that 51.24 shows she's got nearer to the flat speed needed to give herself a fighting chance of a medal in London - and also helps with the 4x400 relay too!

Looking back to Fridays Paris diamond League, thought Tyson Gay's 100m run was fantastic. Great to see him returning to good health and form. And he is getting better and better.

Something about Gay has always interested me; his pick-up and latter half of the race has always been almost on a par with Bolt's. But his starts have always been his achilles heel. They are awful. He loses way too much early on. Against most competitors, he has enough to claw them back, and possible then some too. But against Bolt and Blake, it's a real tall order.

I'm surprised that he has hasn't been able to improve his start by any significant amount. In Bolt's case, whose starts aren't great either - by the time of the major global events, he is sharp. Someone has quoted somewhere that his first 60m in Berlin is the fastest 60m of all time [ 6.36s ].

Gay needn't have to have the best start out there - but he needs to be close at the start to give him a chance of being in with a realistic shout at the end. Worth pointing out too, leaving himself behind by so much earlier on brings about an increased risk of injury, as he tries to reel in those ahead of him. You could imagine what he might have to put his body through in the Olympic final if he has a bad start

Steve Lewis broke the UK PV record tonight in Poland. He jumped 5.82 giving himself a nice outside chance of a medal in London.

British Records are hard to come by. Getting two in quick succession [ Goldie Sayers and Steve Lewis ] is very good indeed
