The all-Spanish tie of Lopez v Nadal; will Lopez put up a contest or is it another stroll for the impressive looking Nadal?

Berdy v El Mugro. Will Tomas go through and proved a meaningful quarter for Nadal or will perhaps the most pointless player in the upper reaches spring a surprise?

Kohlschreiber v JMDP. Potentially a very good match with two clean hitters. Maybe the hardest one to call with Del Potro looking to set a meeting with Fed at the Australian Open, after all the last one went so well......

Agree that Delpo-Kol could be the most competitive of the matches.

Is the Mug really ranked at 11 or 12 or whatever it is? How the hell did that happen. Lopez's BH is gonna get pounded mercilessly by The Nadull.

Fekiciano is too nice. Even if he could beat Nadal, he woudl not do it.

First up on Rod Laver is the shriek denier Kictoria Azarenka (no, it's natural and nothing to do with putting off her opponent - or so she claims) followed later on in the proceedings by that Aussie housewife (no not Dame Edna but you know Aussie Kim).

There'll be much more of an attraction than watching "Deliciano" Lopez being pounded mercilessly by Nadal (as emancipator so nicely put it) unless. of course, your name is Judy Murray in which case best to look away anyway.

I can indeed differentiate, but only in such a non-pc manner that would compromise the forum. Such observations only led to my bemoaning the awful and unappealing state of underwear in the women's game.......

bogbrush I guess Serena shares some of your concerns. Maybe not about the underwear but telling one ova from another.

I'm glad to report that my focus is much more firmly in a more PC direction even if the mute button on my TV controller gets so much usage that's I've recently had to purchase a new one.

I can only see a win for Roger Federer overnight. Tomic is one for the future (whatever his merits) but just feel Federer's experience,Tomic's gruelling matches and the pressure on him will make this a win for Rog. I'd say in three sets with perhaps the first set being quite tight. As for Rafael Nadal I see this as being a straight sets win for him as Lopez just doesn't have the game or the weapons to beat Rafa. I also see straight sets wins for Berdych and Del Potro.

Lopez is just pathetic. He can hardly get a ball in the court and already five DF's. The guy is a total waste of space. Nadal playing rubbish too.

Isner would have been a better opponent compared to Lopez.

As I thought, a comfortable enough win for Rafael Nadal though it could have been tighter as Lopez had his chances. Del Potro looks set for a straight sets win as well as he leads by two sets to love and is a break up in the third set. The other Fourth Round match between Tomas Berdych and Nicolas Almagro was a great match but ended in bitter controversy. Berych won in four tight sets in just under four hours but refused to shake hands at the end offended that Almagro, he feels aimed a ball at his head towards the end of the fourth set. For that action his post-match on-court interview was drowned out by a chorus of boos. I understand him being booed fo a little while as they packed up their kit but felt they took it a little too far booing throughout the interview. He now plays Rafael Nadal in the quarters with Del Potro set to face the winner of the Federer/Tomic match.

Shame about Li Na Clijsters, didn't get to see it but Li Na had 4 match points and still lost. I guess I'll be supporting Clijsters for her 5th slam now.

Come on Fed. Even if he gets through this I don't see how he gets through Del Potro and Nadal and has anything left for the final.

Deliciano politely handed over the win once again to Nadal. What a laughable comedy these all spanish friendlies

Yep he's opted for the pacier, flatter shots rather than the slice and dice.

First set to Federer in 35 minutes - 6-4. Pretty much so far as I thought it would go.

Are they good? Next US Open I'm only watching on the red button where you get knowledgable, understated commentary from people who aren't famous and aren't trying to promote themselves.

Take it from me Greg's tongue was hanging out talking about Federer pre-match as is the norm. However, why do people get all hissy when someone gets praised when they are playing Federer? Credit where credit is dues is what I say.

Hilarious. Mats tells us one point that Tomic knew Fed wouldn't be able to go down the line from a wide backhand, and the next point he hits a winner doing exactly that.

They are fairly neutral, mostly just stating the obvious. I don't think I've heard anything really profound yet. At least they're not annoying.

In what way is it annoying though? Because they dare to credit someone other than Federer in the match? I have heard them criticising Tomic as well so that is fair enough.

CC I don't think people mind about others getting praised when playing Fed. Good play is good play.

I do see Fed taking this in straight sets as I said pre-match. Tomic is an up and coming player so I am watching to see how he matches up against the GOAT and he is doing pretty well so far considering how relatively green he is.

I agree. It was others that were moaning because the Eurosport commentators dared to give Tomic credit.

Tomic is playing well nothing like those 20 slice shots of his last match.

I don't think this is title winning stuff from TMF though.
