What do you Drive?
Would you recommend it?

I will start....Nissan Qashqai 2008 1.6 Acenta & i would very much recommend it!

BMW 123d coupe M Sport.

Not a family car as there isn't much room in the back, and the boot isn't huge so not ideal for holidays, but then again it is more of a sports car really. 0-62 in 7 seconds is pretty sharp, so can have plenty of fun in it, and the economy is a solid 40 odd on mine (I drive with a heavy foot - it is meant to be 55mpg combined) which is good for a fast car.

Good car, I'd recommend it, but they aren't cheap.

2007 Ford F150 Pick Up Truck (5.4)
Recommend? - Yes for where we live (4 wheel drive) but at 24 mpg highway then it's not particularly practical for the UK. Good job petrol is only the equivalent of 60p per lite here at the moment. Plus it would be too big for UK roads and car parks. I dirt-bike in the summer so it's used to carry the bike around. May upgrade it this spring for a newer model as they have better gas milage (28 mpg).

2001 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R
Recommend? - Brilliant fun but don't really ride it enough to justify the cost of keeping it. Not really a town bike and there are too many pesky sheriff's on the faster roads to ride it to it's full potential. Used for work in the summer mainly.

2007 KTM 450exc dual purpose dirt-bike
Recommend? - Road legal but basically a dirt bike with tail lights and a horn. About as much use on busy roads as a chocolate fire guard. Great off road bike though, would really recommend one to any dirt-bikers out there. Getting old and lazy so plan to fit a Rekluse Clutch this spring.

2002 Jeep Liberty (3.7 Limited Edition)
Recommend? - Again more suited for over here with 24 mpg highway and about 16 mpg town. Great vehicle other than mileage, as small as some cars but plenty of storage space and 4wd option for winter. Also impressed by the simplicity of the engine design and was very well looked after by the previous owner. Constantly ask the mrs if she wants to upgrade to something newer but she loves it and will not consider changing. Immaculate condition both inside and out and due to the dry atmosphere here vehicles don't rust

My last car was a Ford Focus ST. For any boy racers out there, I highly recommend that beast.

I'm not allowed to drive here. Probably not a bad thing though, considering how the locals drive.

I used to have a 1996 Mini Cooper 1.3i back in England though. I loved it and would recommend those to anyone who doesn't need to ferry a lot of people or luggage around, or even as a second or weekend car if you have the money for that. It was nippy with just me in it but put a couple of friends in and it became quite sluggish. Great fun on the country roads though.

Whilst never condoning speeding, ahem, I once got a ton out of it on the M1, just to see if it could really. It was on a downhill stretch. As soon as the needle hit 100, I slowed right down again.

We've all been passed by speeding Audis and BMWs (I'm looking at you Fists) but the looks on some of these driver's faces, cruising along at 70/80 and being passed by an old Mini, was great. Surprised, but smiling and kind of expressing 'yeah, that is pretty cool'.

Remember kids, speeding is bad.

i've accidently done 90 without realising, just cruising down the M49 and was the same distance behind the car infront but went from doing 75 - 90 over about 3 mins

I have a VW Bora TDi Highline. It looks anonymous so no-one wnts to nick it, but it's really high spec with all the toys and leather (including heated seats), costs less to insure and buy than the equivalent Golf and does 50 mpg every day, despite being fairly quick for what it is. It's also got a massive boot.

I am also currently rebuilding a Mini Midas Coupe (rebuild thread in the "Complete Midas Rebuilds" section here: http://www.midascarsforum.com/forum) which has been standing 11 years. I will hopefully eventually have this as my "weekend toy"

PS Have also done 100-odd MPH in a Classic Mini. Not gonna do that again in a hurry - it was rather scary...

Ford Fiesta, not bad.

Golf 1.6 Match - lovely drive, very comfortable and with plenty of toys. Probably a bit over-priced (you pay for the badge and the reputation) and it drinks oil a bit (FSI engines have a reputation for this), but I'd certainly recommend to anyone wanting a good, sensible all-round car.

Second car is a 17 year old Fiesta - doesn't even have the benefit of being cool like an old Mini or Fiat. Then again, it was only bought at short notice when they moved my office too far away for me to walk or cycle, and we didn't at that time want to have any more regular debt. Will be replaced very shortly (once any more bits fall off).

BMW M3 not the coupe its terrible. It has a V8 under the bonnet that weighs less than the previous straight six and turns out 414bhp and goes from 0-60 in about 4 seconds. The top speed is limited at something like 155mph.

I've had a fair amount of cars. Mark 1 Golf, Toyota Celica, Nissan Skyline, Toyota MR2 and an Evo 8.

My wife has a hideous pink Range Rover sport I hate jeeps. My mate has an X3 that is smaller then the X5 and I had a shot of it and it was ridiculously too big.

I'm thinking of getting a Jag but I think I might be a bit to young I'm still only 27.

Lovely motor, though I prefer the coupe. Looks smoother on the eye, and looks meaner, too.

It's £3500 for me as a named driver on my dad's car who has 9 years no claims, so it's not even close to being worth it.

I passed my driving test a year ago now, but I doubt I'll be able to drive for another 3 years at least.

I test drove the coupe when I bought mine and it was a bit slower and it never handled as well. It does look a lot meaner though but I've only ever seen it in white and I hate white cars. My Mark 1 Golf was white and I had to wash it almost every day.

I had a sedona red M3 go past me the other day, coupe, with the black alloys. Looked incredible.

I have a Fiat Punto, a 53 reg so fairly old, and when I bought it three years ago (aged 20, and having had a licence for 4 months or so) it only cost a little over £1,200 to be covered as a named driver on my mum's policy.

£3,500 is ridiculous - if it's the same engine as mine, 1.25l, then I've no idea how they come up with that cost!

Insurance premiums have risen massively in the last 12-18 months, by up to 50% in many cases.

The number of uninsured drivers is on the rise (and will continue to do so, with those kind of prices!). Now is not a time to be getting your first car, unfortunately.

I was inches away from buying a new car at Xmas. My current banger is a 03 plate 1.6l Vauxhall Astra SXi. With 60k on the clock and probably worth no more than £1,500 it still runs pretty well and, living in London, it's hard to justify investing (sinking) money into a nice car.

That said, my head was severely turned by a 2.7l TDi Audi A5, absolutely loved it and was a good compromise (but in cost and efficiency) for the car I really wanted - the S5! 4.2l V8 with 350 bhp and 0-60 in 5 secs......

It's because of all the cheating bar stewards that drive around with none and also those fabricating claims.

If more was done to stamp this out premiums might come down little. Police/government just need to take a much harsher stance.

I think that's one of the reasons it's so high, to stop people driving. There are so many cars on the road these days, that they're trying to cut down on it, so by making insurance ridiculously high they price a lot out of it.

Yes they do, but they also make people thing 'sod it, I'm going to drive anyway, without insurance'.

I don't think insurance companies are trying to limit the amount of drivers on the road, that seems like shooting themselves in the foot to me. They have to cover their costs and make a profit, just like any other business. Uninsured drivers, excessive payouts and exaggerrated, false and 'arranged' claims are the reasons for high insurance.

I bought a an old Ford Escort for 1.1 for £200 for work and it has never let me down, granted there's a few things wrong with and need another car soon

The driver's side window handle has snapped off, The passenger side door doesn't work from the out side but you can use it from the inside, There's a scrapping sound on the steering wheel when you go round corner's, The exhaust is blowing a little and the clutch nay need replacing as it keeps on slipping out off reverse and last but not least the reverse lights or not working.

so this car would need a lot of money to pass it's MOT but the engine is sweat as a nut and has never let me down, It has got me to Great Yarmouth to Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and back 3 times and is a great little runner so apart from the list above is a great car.

So why have I said all this cos am looking to sell it and recoup most of what I paid for lol.
