Help required

I have been a member of this site and have experienced first hand the support the members of the forums have given one another . So for this reason I am extending a request to everybody on 606v2


I am the Chair for a fund raising foundation (The Olivia Moyle Foundation) which was created in memory of my niece Olivia Moyle.

Olivia was born with a rare chromosome disorder, this affected all her major organs, her ability to speak and her sight and mobility were also very limited.

When she was first born her family were told that she would most likely not survive.
Despite undergoing multiple major operations, Olivia showed great strength and courage and survived until she was 6 years old. 

However without the help of key organisations and highly skilled professionals this would not have been possible.

Olivia was a very special girl and by far the happiest child you ever had the pleasure to meet; her smile lit up a room and she enriched the lives of everybody who met her. She touched the hearts of so many in her short life and her family have created the Foundation so that she will continue to touch so many more.

The Olivia Moyle Foundation will be organising a number of events in order to raise money for organisations that not only helped Olivia but also provided great support for her family and friends.

In 2012 The Olivia Moyle Foundation are raising funds for two charities based in the North East :

The Neonatal Service at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne looks after newborn babies from all over the north of England. We look after about 600 newborn babies every year, and up to 30 can be with us at any one time.

About half of the 600 babies admitted during the year are born to parents living in Newcastle and about a third are transferred in to us for intensive care from other hospitals either before birth in the womb or after birth in a special transport incubator which keeps them warm and provides life support for their breathing on the journey. The babies who are transferred stay here until they are well enough to go back to their own hospital. All premature babies need to stay in a special care baby unit until a few weeks before they should have been born.

The intensive care for these tiny babies needs around 130 nurses and 20 doctors. Nursing and medical care on the ward demands particular skills and we support specialist training in those areas. It is very important that we keep up to date with the latest advances and we contribute to some of these by supporting local research projects. The babies need careful monitoring and support with expensive equipment so that they have the best chance of recovery. We try and make the experience less stressful for parents by making the environment more homely and by contributing to travel costs.

Olivia spent most of her life on the wards within the Newcastle Hospitals, and had spent a considerable amount of time in the Royal Victoria Infirmary after she was born. The staff within this department provide a fantastic service and the level of support and care they provided to Olivia and her family was exceptionally high.

Glendene School

Glendene is an established Special School based in Easington Colliery in the South East of County Durham. It is a newly designated Specialist College for visual arts.

The school caters for pupils with a wide range of learning difficulties, including profound and multiple difficulties, severe and moderate learning difficulties, as well as catering for pupils with autism.

Glendene played a huge part in Olivia’s development; increasing her quality of life by providing stimulating play and encouraging her to take part in social activities with fellow class mates.



In May 2012 representatives of The Olivia Moyle Foundation will be taking part in a 140 mile sponsored walk of the North East Coast starting at Holy Island and finishing in Seaham.
