Okay lads, I need details!!!

I heard the score was 10 v 9 when our Gellectric went off. It came on again briefly at 10pm allowing me to ee the final score and post in here. Then it was off till 3am. Had to be in Dublin (to watch the wee fella's team thrash Leinster's finest) first thing so I have heard nothing!!

Details!!!

Were we as good in the second half as the scoreline suggests? Was iHumph good/poor? Was that his general play or his kicking?

Did Faloon do well?

iHumph went off after 21 minutes with a tight hamstring. Faloon came on for the (ankle) injured Wannenberg after 11 minutes. I didn't get to listen to all the game but from what I can glean, we were very good in phases but coughed up possession a few times. Both Edinburgh tries were from mistakes. The second one from a bad throw in by Best.
Plus points would be Marshall's performance again. He was involved in the moves for all four tries and made significant breaks for the Trimble and Cave (tbp) tries.

Just saw the second try on Final Score NI.

Fantastic take of the high ball by Trimble, competing against an Edinburgh player in the air, who bolted and passed to Willie, who made a long inside pass to Ferris, who cruised a distance and then, after handing off another Edinburgh player, flicked the ball out of the back of his hand to Tuohy, who was on his shoulder.

Brilliant team effort, nary an import insight.

Indo headline? "Foreign imports fail to deliver for Ulster" most likely.

On other business Ulster Regs, Leicester had an easy win over the Wasps 29-11. Wasps didn't put up a great fight after the first 20 minutes.
12x3's scored all Leicester's points including two tries. Certainly in this game they didn't miss Flood or Tuilagi

(2) Who says Darren Cave doesn't have pace? And are you EOS in disguise?

(3) Best was not at fault for the second Edinburgh try. Muller was held and didn't get in the air to catch the perfectly thrown lineout ball!

Typical - the one home game I can finally get to and we play crap and get pumped! So from my perspective....

Basically Ulster looked like a team, Edinburgh a rabble of individuals. Ulster's restarts, scrums and lineouts looked polished and professional and Edinburgh just looked like they were just holding on and no more.

Your forwards bossed us physically with your backrow playing well with Ferris being his usual self.

What a player for Ulster to have in Ruan Pienaar - just so composed and a world class players to fill in at 10. Trimble was also superb with an unbelievable catch from an up and under on the run, with Talei going for it at the same time.

And who was your sub scrum half?? That guy has got to be one of the speediest men ever (although tiny) and he set up two tries due to his speed.

As for Edinburgh, well, the only player to stand out for me was Talei - who was superb. Mcinally looked seriously short of physicality aginst a beast of an Ulster backrow.

None of the backs really stood out - Mossy made a great break at the start but subdued after then. De Luca had a thumping tackle but also missed several. Visser must have touched the ball twice!

So very disappointing from Edinburgh - massive improvement needed to stand a chance next week away to Racing.

It was great to be able to see the tries and all but why send all those people there and then not give anyone the chance to see it?

The bit I don't get is sending the camera to Murrayfield at all.

I thought the expensive part was sending the OB team there. They seem to have done all that but not made any use of it.

Think there's a big difference financially to send a few camera men down to record the game as opposed to having to set up a live broadcast.

I'm not defending the BBC like - rugby coverage from BBC Scotland is horrendous!

It could quite conceivably have been the SRU filming it - most teams do that for video analysis. There seemed to be one camera at the side and one at one end - if that was filmed by professional sports camera operators, for broadcast, you wouldn't hire them again. The SRU then probably have a deal (or obligation) to provide highlights. There's no need for an OB van if it's not being broadcast - the time lapsed between the filming and its appearance online suggests it could have been edited afterwards, rather than directed live.

Last year against Bath was probably his best game. But you are right in terms of consistent performances.

Yeah thats what I meant stand. He's had some stormers in the past and was in great run of form last year before his injury but since his return in the RWC he has been unbelievable..and I do mean unbelievable, he gets better by the game. He looks even bigger and stronger than ever, if thats even possible and his offloading game has improved too. He is in the form off his life.

Marshall got the official MOTM i believe MrsP.

The scores against Edinburgh were really pleasing and Tuohys one can also be chalked up as a score for the Faloon fan club. To be honest i think Willie is going to see plenty of gametime this year. Its all confidence builders though. Ulster are a confidence team so hopefully a good result next week and who knows were we could end up.

Some observations:

Marshall coming on was an improvement - the combination worked better. Pienaer's kicking was superior to iHumph and we would not have scored the last 2 tries without Marshall's pace.

Our forwards as a unit were immense especially Afoa and Ferris Edinburgh couldn't handle the power.

Faloon had a very good game. Wallace coame through fine and I think will start next week.

Whitten, Henry and Ferris all knocked on with the line begging. Ferris' handling was actually not that great.

Pienaer and Ferris, between them, gifted Edinburgh their first try.
Muller was fouled for Edinburgh's second try.

Trimble should have been MOTM. He gave Visser a lesson in how to play on the wing. Defensively he buried him and in attack he exposed him for pace, as did Marshall. On here not so long ago Visser was touted as one of Europes top 3 wingers, and I suggested you cannot say that until he has played International rugby. Trimble this weekend suggested that he still has much to learn.

Overall an excellent performance and confidence is good but at the same time a realization that some silly mistake would cost us against better teams.

Next week is there for the taking if we can produce the quality of performance we produced in 80% of the game.

I honestly think Embra made a massive mistake in resting players for this game - should have had out the full squad in preparation for the Heino game against RM - coaching error from Bradley

I tried to tell them about Muller and that 2nd Edinburgh try Geoff, but they wouldn't listen!!

I thought Edinburgh would have a full strenght team out as well, so they have played together before the RM game, with being rested for the Glasgow game and Ulster game, they had better be well rested for RM.

I believe Bradley has made a mistake, as well, but we'll see.

Good game from Ulster, BP away win sets us up nicly for the Leicester game, we really seam to be clicking now for a push in the 2nd half of the season. Leicester game could be biggest game of the year, have to make up ground on Glasgow, Scarlets and Cardiff to get into top 4. a very possible target as I see Glasgow and Scarlets fall away in 2nd half of season, Ulster will hopefully stay strong, meaning game against Cardiff will be huge.

Plus we have a very bad close to the with the last 3 games all being inter-pro's. Really need to be comfortable in top 4 before last 2 games, as don't want to have to relay on getting points in the last 2 to make top 4. Predict that it'll be a difficult and close end to the season for us.

We've definitely put ourselves back in contention in the Rabo. Unfortunately the blues got a losing bonus point that they didn't deserve due to an awful TMO descision. Every point will be crucial in the run in and we need to keep picking up the points and see what happens.

The priority though has to be reaching another HEC QF again. It is all in our own hands and at home we should be confident about beating the Tigers. I can't recall the last time I was so excited about an Ulster game....

We still need to improve but we've hit form at the right time so who know what we can achieve if we keep our heads together. On paper we shouldn't fear anyone.

Glad I missed this match. By all accounts Ulster played well but Edinburgh were in disarray in defence and leaked some soft tries.

Credit to Ulster for mauling us in our own back yard though.

Cracking result for Ulster. Great to see Dan Touhy on the scoreboard, particularly because he’s in my fantasy pro 12 team.
