Re: Crazy
Ozil was in his last year of contract and is older, and wasn't needed for homegrown rules...
Although Henderson was overpaid for, I don't think it's comparable as it first appears.

Re: Crazy
A few points about these kind of posts.
1. 'Value' doesn't equate to 'price' very often
2. Things change very quickly in sport and often no-one knows who has the most influence in the change, whether it's the club or the player.
3. They play in different positions are are very different types of player.
4. It's easy to throw figures out, but they mean nothing unless put into some context, the context here makes a big difference to fees involved:
Mesut Özil had turned down offers from many clubs who were willing to pay more, but publicly stated he wanted to join Real, he had 1 year left on his contract, so Werder Bremen decided to cash in, there was a similar situation with David Villa ie if he followed the cash, Valencia would have got a far higher fee out of City, Utd, or Chelsea than they did from Barca.
Jordan Henderson had approximately 4 years left on his Sunderland contract when Liverpool signed him, he is viewed as a long term replacement for Gerrard, so his £16-20m fee may well be a bargain.
5. For a truly comparable situation of how it's all about context, see Carroll v Torres.
Liverpool got £50m for a striker who wanted to leave and had a day to try and replace him, Newcastle didn't need to sell Carroll, so ended up getting far more than he was really 'worth', both players were overpriced, but Liverpool came out of the deal with £15m in the bank and as yet neither player has proved to be worth more than 10 bob for their current club.
6. Timing is everything.

Re: Crazy
Well in the first place Henderson was not £20mil, second Ozil was in the last year of his contract so your article is stupid.
