Solheim Cup
Bit of a rushed thread as with being busy this week completely forgot to write a proper thread.....
But to start am I the only one that thinks maybe the US should have named their opening pairing the othe way around as Wie/Kerr reads Weaker!! Just a thought

Team match play ... love it!
Sorry Ireland but you didn't half balls up the flag-raising bit of the opening ceremony. Indeed, didn't they only manage to get the american flag half way up?

Same here Gael all forms of team matchplay. The Wie/Kerr pairing are certainly showing no signs of being weaker 2 up thru 2

Is there any coverage on Council TV for this?

What i find more annoying is the sickly type of patriotism being worn in the stupid facepaint on the players faces!
But is good to see the Solheim cup in full flow on whats looks to be a lovely course that I will have to add to the list to play next year when i'm over in the emerald isle for a family pee up sorry wedding.......

Those flags on the faces are embarassing. They did it at the Curtis Cup the other year. Shiversome.

Hopefully they've got a sniper on call for the wretched "USA" shouts or "gedindahole" At the very least it should carry a prison sentence.

Re: Solheim Cup
JPX, I've nothing against national pride, just that the USA are terrible at it.
No humour, no camaraderie, just an in yer face aggressive rant with no imagination.
I loved the European response at the Ryder Cup to the incessant USA chants.
"You've only got one song"
The American players seemed to love the atmosphere there, all good humoured, supporting your team without all the ghastly flag-waving.

Re: Solheim Cup
Any shouts of "gedinhahole" or youdawoman should be dragged from the event location to a secret spot somewhere on the atlantic coast rocks tied to ankles and cast off the cliff face into the wash below....
I have nothing against americans with the people other than they are severly over the top in everything they do. Yes there are some exceptions but sadly not emough in my experience but that said i can't be too harsh as 85% of my business customers are septics

Re: Solheim Cup
We have to make up songs because we arent one entity though...
Scores were looking good for a while there but even at 2-2 it still looks good.
Watched the opening tee shots and it brought back all the memories of the RC last year. Think this might be the first year I actually pay any attention to this!

Lairdy, I think the variety from the European crowd is just testament that we understand banter better.
America play virtually no big team sports at international level to any sort of level so they treat it like a war.

You have to feel that if Hjorth and Nordqvist can squeeze half a point out of the top match, it'll feel almost like a win.

Re: Solheim Cup
Super agreed. The US is just so big it doesnt have to play against anyone else for competition/entertainment. So big and so relatively young that they just arent very worldly. Last thing I will say on it because too much commentary on it is about as tiresome as some of the behaviour itself.

This is where I'm struggling with who I'm rooting for, I can't really warm to this whole team Europe thing at all. I don't consider myself European, I have nothing in common with Swede's. Whereas America I feel a lot more closer to.gaelgowfer wrote:You have to feel that if Hjorth and Nordqvist can squeeze half a point out of the top match, it'll feel almost like a win.

It does indeed but I would wonder when they shout it at certain individuals that they need their eyes tested........

Re: Solheim Cup
On the topic of USA only have one song, made me remember the song the Europeans sang to Dustin Johnston on the 1st tee at last year's Ryder Cup.
"Where's your major gone, where's your major gone. Where's your major gone, where's your major gone. Far, far away...." to the tune of "Where's your baby gone..." Brillient! (perhaps those upder 45 won't know the tune).
Apparently Dustin saw the funny side so no harm done and all credit to the guy.
Any other good songs / chants from Ryder Cups?

"There's only TWO Mollinari's"
I think there was one about Cinks hair too. Credit to the Yanks though, they seemed to love it.
Can't imagine the Yanks being the same the the Europeans on their patch.

Super,
I recall the chant but I thought they sang "There's only ONE Molinari" which made it funny when both were standing on the 1st tee.

Someone on twitter suggested that if some of the US team were made of chocolate, they'd eat themselves.

Surprised that hasn't been deleted by the Moderator Davie!
But eating each other or not, there's lots of American bottom-slapping going on, not sure about that.
