Deadliest murderous songs Empty Deadliest murderous songs

Post by OzT Fri 05 Aug 2011, 12:09 pm

Thinking here of popular songs that features violent deaths in it.

For example, here's Delilah, one of the most murderous song. Only really one verse long, the man knocks on the door after watching his ex and new man acting out 'flickering shadows of love on her blind', waits till the man goes, knocks on her door and kills her!!!

Now that is a mean little song!!!

Any other contenders??

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free
At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my delilah
Why, why, why delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldn’t take any more

[insert trumpet solo here]

She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldn't take any more
Forgive me delilah I just couldn't take any more

Therapy?'s "Diane" is pretty disturbing and it's based on a true story I think:

Hey little girl wanna go for a ride ?
There’s room and my wagon is parked right outside
We can cruise down Rober Street all night long
But I think I’ll just r*pe you and kill you instead
Diane, Diane,
Diane, Diane,
Diane, Diane
I hear there’s a party at Lake Cove
It’s be much easier if I drove
We could check it out
We can go and see
Come on take a ride with me
Diane, Diane, Diane
Diane, Diane, Diane
Lay down together for a while
I’ll put all your clothes in a nice neat little pile
You’re the cutest girl I’ve ever seen in my life
But it’s over now and with my knife
Diane, Diane, Diane
Diane, Diane, Diane

David Bowie also did a concept album (called Outside) featuring a sci-fi story in which the UK government, through its arts commission, has created a new bureau to investigate the phenomenon of Art Crime. In this future, murder and mutilation of bodies had become a new underground art craze. The main character, Nathan Adler, is in the business of deciding what of this was legally acceptable as art and what's trash. The album is filled with references to characters and their lives as he investigates the complicated events leading up to the murder of a fourteen-year-old girl.

Another mention - the Manic Street Preachers Patrick Bateman song about the same character from Brett Easton Ellis' violent book American Psycho.

Oz - great band though!

Oh I also forgot "Hey Joe" by Jimi Hendricks and Bruce Springsteen's "Nebraska" which is based on a true story as well.

They've just played another on the radio as well - Nick Cave & Kylie Minogue "Where The Wild Roses Grow".

Oz - "Nebraska" tells the story of Charles Starkweather and Carol Ann Fugate - it's not graphic as such, but he's singing about how he met the girl and then he's dreaming about her whilst he's on the electric chair.

I think you'd have to go a long way to beat Disturbed's Down With The Sickness

I can't even write the relevant lyrics here. If you've heard it though, you'll know what I mean. Shocked

Then there's:

Killing In The Name - Rage Against The Machine
Take No Prisoners - Megadeth
Painkiller - Judas Priest

Not exactly murderous but they deal with violent death:

Out In The Fields - Gary Moore & Phil Lynott
Civil War - Guns 'n' Roses
Gods of War - Def Leppard

Manic Street Preachers' Archives of Pain is quite grim in the second verse although not in a disturbing way.

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/manicstreetpreachers/archivesofpain.html

The lyrics were actually based on this:

Nope not quite, yes deaths but the lyrics to a lot of these didn't seem quiet so cold blooded as the first song, deliah, or disturbing as Diane or Down With The Sickness.

I don't quite get the manic Preacher's one, is he advocating the death penality??

ah yes Blaze of Glory, sorry, too poppy a song and the words didn't jump out quite so much. As for Alice Cooper I think Ballad of Dwright Wright, (bad spelling) is much more disturbing, no death but a good breakdown solo..

Bonnie and Clyde historically correct, a little bit romantic.

Right, gonna look for some gruesome songs.....

Er...what? You've heard the song but want clues? Headscratch

Its basically about a kid who's abused by his mother for years until he eventually snaps and kills her (by that time he's presumably a fairly big and strong teenager).

Anyway, here's the full lyrics. Not pleasant reading...

So many songs I could list at the moment..

Slipknot - Wait And Bleed is about people self harming and it springs to mind.

Infact, the entire Dream Theater album Metropolis PT.2: Scenes From a Memory is about the premise of murder. Quality album too.

No, it's basically about the pointlessness of it. The lyrics refer to Foucault's book on the subject (see my links above).

'Woman in the wall' by the Beautiful South is pretty graphic considering the source.
Lines about rotting flesh beginning to stink and the wall dripping due to the decomposing body behind it bely the jaunty melody.

Says more about me than anything but I don't find the lyrics to 'down with the sickness' to be that disturbing, anything by Cannibal Corpse or Carcass is fairly brutal as well as possibly Napalm Death although they tended to be more political than murderous.

You could have The Advert's "Gary Gilmore's Eyes" which is about a serial killer who donated his organs after he was executed.

I'm lying in a hospital,
I'm pinned against the bed.
A stethoscope upon my heart,
A hand against my head.

They're peeling off the bandages.
I'm wincing in the light.
The nurse is looking anxious,
And she's quivering in fright...

I'm looking through Gary Gilmore's eyes.

The doctors are avoiding me.
My vision is confused.
I listen to my earphones,
And I catch the evening news.

A murderer's been killed,
And he donates his sight to science.
I'm locked into a private ward.
I realise that I must be...

Looking through Gary Gilmore's eyes.
Looking through Gary Gilmore's eyes.

I smash the light in anger.
Push my bed against the door.
I close my lids across my eyes,
And wish to see no more.
The eye receives the messages,
And sends them to the brain.
No guarantee the stimuli must be perceived the same...

When looking through Gary Gilmore's eyes.

Gary don't need his eyes to see.
Gary and his eyes have parted company.

There is something inside me
It's coming out
I feel like killing you
Let loose of the anger, held back too long
My blood runs cold
Through my anatomy, dwells another being
Rooted in my cortex, a servant to its bidding
Brutality becomes my appetite
Violence is now a way of life
The sledge my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead
Eyes bulging from the sockets
With every swing of my mallet
I smash your Flip head in, until brains seep in
Through the crack
Blood does leak distorted beauty,
Catastrophe steaming slop.
Splattered all over me
Lifeless body, slouching dead
Lecherous abcess.
Where you once had a head
Avoiding the prophecy of
My new found lust
You will never live again,
Soon your life will end
I'll see you die at my feet, eternally I smash your face
Facial bones collapse as I crack your skull in half
Crushing, cranal, contents
Draining the snot, I rip out the eyes
Squeezing them in my hands nerves are incised
Peeling the flesh off the bottom of my weapon
Involuntarily pulpifying facial region
Suffer, and then you die
Torture, pulverised
At one with my sixth sense, I feel free
To kill as I please, No one can stop me
Created to kill, the carnage continues
Violently reshaping human facial tissue
Brutality becomes my appetite
Violence is now the way of life
The sledge my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead

The lyrics to the previously mentioned Cannibal Corpse song. Obviously the swearing words will have been filtered.

I'd also just like to point out that I do not listen to this music Shocked

Not murderous, I always thought that the song is about someone that has had a mental breakdown

Judas Priest Beyond the Realms of Death
He had enough
He couldn't take anymore
He'd found a place
In his mind and slammed the door
No matter how they tried
They couldn't understand
They washed and dressed him
Fed him by hand

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Withdrawn he'd sit there
Stare blank into space
No sign of life
Would flicker on his face
Until one day he smiled
It seemed as though with pride
The wind kissed him
Goodbye - and then he died

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in
Yeah! I will start again
It can take forever, and ever, and ever
And ever, but I'll still win.

[SOLO (Glenn)]

How many like him,
Are there still
But to us, all
Seem to have lost the will
They lie in thousands
Plagued and lost
Is nothing worth this bitter cost

Yeah! I've left the world behind
I'm safe here in my mind
Free to speak with my own kind
This is my life, this is my life
I'll decide not you

Keep the world with all its sin
It's not fit for livin' in

Asdral - that reminds me of Exit by U2.

You know he got the cure
You know he went astray
He used to stay awake
To drive the dreams he had away
He wanted to believe
In the hands of love

His head it felt heavy
As he cut across the land
A dog started crying
Like a broken hearted man
At the howling wind
At the howling wind

He went deeper into black
Deeper into white
Could see the stars shining
Like nails in the night
He felt the healing
Healing, healing
Healing hands of love
Like the stars shiny shiny
From above

Hand in the pocket
Finger on the steel
The pistol weighed heavy
His heart he couldn't feel
Was beating, beating...
