With 6 games on today didnt feel like jumping around the various u20 posts for each side...

On now is Scotland vs SA- Scots ahead after 16 mins 5-0, now SA 7-5 after 18.

Wales are leading Fiji 14-5 after scoring a try after 7 seconds! An average kick of to the left was left to bounce by the Fijians and Wales came through at full pace catching the ball after the bounce and scored in the corner. Other than the ball bouncing I don't think you can get a quicker try.

Aus thrashed Argie 36-17.

Well the Wales Fiji game is deteriorating with the Fijians lacking any kind of discipline. Already two yellows and a penalty try. Half time 29-12

The ref was a bit poor in the Wales/Fiji game IMO, and he seemed to struggle with speaking English.

Because the IRB didn't ban Fiji following the military coup. The Commonwealth people did, and when it was partially dropped the ban the sevens part had already been drawn.

Europe itself is getting close to being a perpetual 'military coup' given that its 'cabinet' of commissioners isn't elected by any of us, and neither is its President.

Coups................. they're popular things in this new age of 'ignore the people and their votes and just rule away regardless'.

Thats been the plan from day one, Fly. Its easier for the bankers to rule one Europe rather than 20+ individual states.

Have Fiji been banned by the Olympic committee? Have China not been banned by the commonwealth committee? I fail to see the double standards when you're talking about different groups. Just different standards.

In Europe don't we elect our representatives, who are the ones to sort out the rest? Not really anything like a coup is it?

Yes, they are based on last seasons final standings.

England, Wales, South Africa
New Zealand, France, Argentina
Australia, Ireland, Samoa
Scotland, Fiji, Italy

Because there are only three pools it works on the basis of the previous year's results.

England and Wales contested the final, which makes them seed one and two, SA and NZ played for the third place play off which seeds them 3 and 4.

then seed one, England gets seed 6, Wales the loser of the final gets seed 5 etc.

SO it is vital to be in the final if you want an easier pool the next year.

My post wasn't directed at you or your points by the way but directed at the topic you highlighted - by mentioning how one nation can be seen as one that needs to be punished for being undemocratic (military coup) whilst other nations are welcomed to everything, nations that are held together on undemocratic principles of obedience to the single party or else Wink

I don't know whether Wales are any better last season,I just made the post because your comment seemed to suggest that Wales beating S.A. by a point last year has some relevance to what will happen this year.

Need to be careful though. If they do the "dudududududu" eye thing and focus in on the high ball they might miss the jumping player and get red carded.

That was due to the England game anomaly. It's also why I'm worried about facing the best teams in this competition. Outside of that game, we did well, but the points-deficit was too great. You could struggle against France,the luck of the draw is a huge part of this tournament and France get to rest their best players against Fiji while Wales have to play Ireland and France back to back in the space of 4 or 5 days.That takes a lot out of a team.

I don't think it'll be as bad for a bunch of well conditioned youngsters. If France want to rotate then that's fine, but I wouldn't risk it if I were them. We lost to them in the 6 Nations, if we can give their scrum a pasting this time I think we have a good chance of winning.

I'm not sure but the squads are smallish and the games so close together that you really have to rotate your squad to keep them fresh.

Big game for NZ and South Africa tomorrow. Not sure how the qualification for the semis work. I'm guessing it's possible for the loser to be in the group playing off for 5th-8th place.

Boks look good, I think we're starting to see the lack of emphasis on the junior game come through. As a Kiwi I'm worried about the lack of development of our team. It'll be the first of 2nd time many of these players will have played together as we have no junior national age groups sides now.
