From N0.10 to No.1 in a months time - Djoko at Race to London Empty From N0.10 to No.1 in a months time - Djoko at Race to London

Back to Back Masters win has propelled Djoko from No.10 in the race to No.1 in the race, for the first time in this year the race and the ranking has coincided with the Top 5 with Dolgopolov breaking the ice with No.6 spot in the Race ahead of Ferrer.

Old Article
I have always loved the concept "Race to London", for the first time I see too much anomaly at the start of the year, yes its just 2 month but lot of interesting things already, who expected Wawrinka to top the Race by the end of 2nd month and who expected Djoko to lie on 10th place. Even if Djoko wins the upcoming masters IW he might still find himself at 5th place in the race. Is the consistency of other players slowly catching up with him?

Great to see Grigor Dimitrov and Cilic in the list.

Had Federer won the last set tie breaker against Djoko he would have been the No.1 in race to London and Djoko would have been in No.6.

This is the first time since 2006 that Djokovic is going to March without at least one tournament win to his credit.

He was not yet 19 in March 2006.  Then again, he only played two tournaments this year so far, so no big tragedy.

I enjoyed watching his World Tennis Day match vs Murray. Some excellent moments it from both Djoko and Murray. Especially when Djoko pulled Marion Bartolli out the crowd after Murray had pulled a kid out to play for him!! Pretty funny when Murray tried to serve an ace vs Bartolli but missed by an inch only then to double fault.

I also watched Agassi vs Sampras. All it did was cement my opinion that Agassi is the best ball striker we've ever seen.

It was simply unbelievable some of his ground strokes and returns. Sampras unfortunately struggled. Big time - but not unexpected.

Sorry to hijack the thread..does relate to Djoko a little!

djoko needs a good run in this USA tour, mentally he needs to feel strong heading to roland garros, as that may be his main goal now.

and he can do it. I mean, I see no other bothering nadal on paris right now, but nole has been so close last couple of times

Djokovic has played a whopping 2 tournaments, think people are getting a bit ahead of themselves. He nearly beat an inspired wawrinka in 5 sets in oz. hardly a result to be ashamed of. He did recently go unbeaten at world tour finals for 2nd year in a row beating nadal, federer, del potro, wawrinka not to mention winning masters in Paris and Shanghai. How quickly people forget such results! You would swear he lost to two mugs in oz and Dubai!

Hasn't played well but he is a streak player, if jelena gives him some extra good nookie he could win the next 20 or 30 matches.

Well the race will be much clearer once we see how the top guys perform in the clay court events. Two months with only a couple of tournaments played was always too early to make any conclusions. I do think Ferrer will have a tough time this year repeating his top 5 position. He usually plays well and collects a good number of points in the clay court season. If Ferrer underperforms this clay court season he may have a dogfight on his hands to get London. Grigor I think can make a push and get there this would be a big next step in his development. Cilic and Nishikori as well are in with a shout. If Tsonga, Ferrer, and JMDP are out there would be three new entries of young blood into the London field. Personally, though I think Ferrer if healthy will do enough to finish top 8. But Tsonga has played awful so far this season and JMDP will have a hard time of making it with all the time he will miss. Who are the most likely new entrants?

I don't think so JMDP will return anytime soon this year and by the time he returns he won't have enough to hold on to NO.8 this year.

For me I would be more than happy if he calls this season off and focus hard for a good come back in 2015.
