No.6 Top Taro Trump Cards

It’s the most contentious position for the test team. This is how I read the cards
Three into six goes twice so who starts and who is on the bench?
Tom Croft Tackling 6 Breakdown 6 Ball Carrying 8 Power 7 Speciality 9 (Line out) Penalties 0 36/50
Dan Lydiate Tackling 10 Breakdown 6 Ball Carrying 4 Power 6 Speciality 8 (work rate) Penalties 0 34/50
Sean O’Brien Tackling 7 Breakdown 7 Ball Carrying 9 Power 9 Speciality 9 (Versatility) Penalties -2 39/50
On the face of it Sean O’Brien should start every game but last week it was deemed that Crofts lineout work and pace were more beneficial to the team than Lydiates work rate or SOB’s power. However with POC out of the game will there be a need for Lydiate to pick up the slack and make the tackles of two men? Will SOB’s power running be used to target a banged up Wallaby midfield. Or will the option of Croft in the lineout be needed more than ever.
Personally I think Lydiate will start. With a one nil advantage the sensible option is to try to grind out a series win by stifling the Wallabies in possession and there is no better combination than Lydiate and Warburton and Felatau as a tried and trusted unit. SOB sprung from the bench If not going to plan and to start if it boils down to a winner takes all final test.

Although some rave about it, I have never really appreciated the Taro method of selection. I have always favoured the "pin the tail on the donkey" approach. It's much more fun and has better results.

You forget the 'Welshness' criterion.
Croft falls down a lot on that one, but I've heard that SOB is a good singer and likes a bit of cheese on toast.
