Do we need another thread about the same fight when there's already two?

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
A brilliant performance from Rigo who made Donaire look awful.
It's ironic really. Donaire said that rigo was one dimensional and couldn't adapt.
Rigo made Donaire look that very same!!
It's seems Donaire could only rely on power.
I had Rigo winning by a few clear rounds although my brother had it a draw.
It looked close, but if you really took note, Rigo completely schooled him all night long.
Who next for Rigo? Abner Mares?

He'll nail anyone at the weight, so true mobile, Rigo completely bossed him, controlled movement, space, timing, he adapted well, pivoted like a ballerina, he was so so good wasn't he. We knew.

There's no bigger Rigo fan than me....
I had my little gloat early hours this morning and gave my round by round scoring. Gloat over.
I fear you're going to turn peoples dislike of your posting style toward Rigo, and that's unfair.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
Mackem, who is rigo's rent boy, has earned the right to gloat. You picked a fight right davide. Well done fella, but if everyone dedicated a thread to getting a fight correct...
Disappointing fight really... And a bit of an eye opener for those who've championed donaire as an all time great. He looked completely devoid of ideas, I thought he'd try and pressure him, but only seemed to try to push the pace in the last few rounds. Credit to rigo for dictating the pace, and I suspect the straight left down the pipe earned donaire's respect enough to stop him from taking liberties. But still, donaire looked clueless.
Suspect rigo earned everyone's respect but not many new admirer's, for his display.

Big deal you called it right, credit to Rigo for winning but there was so little to admire in his actual performance, i'm all for slick defensive work but last night bordered on running away. Still has to rank below Donaire p4p, would probably have him around the 7/8 mark with Nonito at about 5/6.

This proves to me you know little about the sweet science Imperial. That was a spectacle in my eyes. People thought Rigo would gas, lol. He danced like Ali and completely controlled space. His timing was fantastic, speed blistering, power obviously enough to hurt a bigger man, he was coy, smart, calculated and bossed the ring. What is there NOT to admire about Rigo's performance. All hail the new king of boxing. If casual's don't like it then, well, that's why we call them casual fans. Us 'real' fans should be in awe of how ordinary Rigo made a world class fighter look.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
I was talking to TopHat on twitter yesterday, and it was a case of heart says Rigo, head says Donaire. I watched the Darchinyan fight and seen how effective the left hook was against Vic's low right hand. Obviously, Rigo is a far more skilled boxer, but I had serious question marks about his durability. I felt Rigo would outbox him but would eventually get caught. To my surprise, he took some good shots and came through them.
What effect does this have on Donaire's overall standing? I've seen people say he's a top ten man of the smaller weights. That perception will change, but how much will his stock fall by? I still rate him very highly, still a top 10 p4per, but that invincibility he possessed is gone.

It's not a style I appreciate and to be honest the fight bored me, I only like watching a defensive master when he's constantly countering and making his opponent pay.

Scored it 116-112 Rigo.
Donaire looked a bit confused in there to say the least.

So everyone has to bow to you and agree that it was a masterclass when in fact in fact it was a dire boring performance.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
Boring and master class are two different things. They are irrelevant to each other. It's about paying Rigo respect for kicking Donaire's ass. Donaire admitted it pretty much and he took the punches, ate them, why can't you? You look very silly today Imperial after basically calling me stupid for being so pro Rigo, well, he did it, with change, admit it and move on.

Still ranks well below Donaire p4p.
Did Bradley or Marquez suddenly elevate to number 2 when they both beat Pacquiao?? I know people cry robbery in the Bradley fight but most still have Pac at 5 or 6 and he hasn't won competitively since Mosely

General consensus has the fight scored 114-113 or 115-112, I think you are going slightly overboard with what was a good performance but one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
You are insane Imperial, and showing yourself to be bitter like Donaire was in the post fight interview. He just dismantled a top 5 P4P fighter and made them look utterly clueless for large portions of the fight. It was more impressive than any other fight this year, it won't be FIGHT OF THE YEAR due to a lack of action, but Rigo completely bossed Donaire. He stupified him, so pay respect.
What next for Rigo?
Mayweather used to get jip for fighting like this, now we all hail him, what's different here?

All that smack Donaire talked before the fight about drug testing, especially when you consider Rigo submitted to Olympic testing for so long, and all that jazz about how he does the same thing, lol. Idiot.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
Comparing Rigondeaux and Mayweather is like comparing chalk and cheese. Mayweather makes you miss and makes you pay, Rigondeaux made Donaire miss and moved away.
Also mentioning Donaires eye, that huge amount of swelling was causes by the big left hand in the last round, hardly proves he dominated him for 12 rounds.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
Hampo, come on now.
There are so many similarities to Mayweather as a young, lighter fighter and Rigo.
So, so, so many.
It's not chalk and cheese. Any more cliche's you want to miss use?
Mayweather has a better chin though, although, in the 120's it's easier to get KO'd, IMHO.

My point exactly, making someone miss isn't an achievement by itself, countering back is the big bit of skill.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
Excellent performance from Rigondeaux for me. Other than the 10th he boxed like had to. He made Donaire look very one dimensional. Donaire was outpunched, outlanded and outthought for most of the fight.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
He did. LOOK AT DONAIRE's FACE.
He also moved better, controlled the ring completely, controlled space, evaded stunningly, but for the flash knock down of course, used speed, used straight lefts, right's, clusters and generally out fought him.
Like Mayweather, Rigo disabled what Donaire does so well, throw punches, he shut down his trigger left hand like Mayweather does to so so many.
Wake up, boys. Listen to the men.
The commentary on Boxnation was rank. I think Bradley is still punch drunk.

He would lure and KO Mares. Utterly KO him. Mares is way more hittable.
Never gonna happen due to GBP beefing with TR, we know this. Frampton next? lol, or Quigg?

Rigondeaux is the man at the weight now surely. Mares has moved up to feather now. Plus Mares basically had his WBC title engineered for him at super bantam.

but the mares fight would put a stamp on it, mare may have been gifted a belt,, but he was a worthy champion anyways. if he has moved up though, then rigo is the man, guna look for the fight and see how it went down.

Re: Humble Pie: What I Say?
I have been stuffing my face with humble pie all morning, I got it totally wrong.
Big shout out to Mackem, who pretty much explained how Rigo would win, by slowing the pace of the fight. Rigo made Donaire apprehensive to throw and controlled the tempo of the fight all night. This was a perfect example of how the aggressor does not win on pure aggression. Excellent ring generalship from Rigo.
However, it was an absolute stinker of a fight and one you couldn't pay me to watch again. A lot of the rounds consisted of Rigo doing laps around the ring, making Donaire look poor but also himself in the process. It wasn't a shut out like HBO had it but I had Rigo a clear winner.
Rigo needs to get more fan friendly, he successfully managed to apply an amateur style for 12 rounds but it wasn't very entertaining. He Dominated Donaire with his movement rather than his attacks (which were extremely sparse).
To be impressive on the back foot you need to dominate, like Mayweather/Marquez/Ward/Martinez do. He has some serious skills, but that style is not my cup of tea at all.
This reminded me of the first 9 rounds of Froch vs Dirrell
Well done Rigo, he made Donaire look ordinary.
