TME: A Public Statement Empty TME: A Public Statement

Post by Spaghetti-Hans Fri 15 Feb 2013, 6:04 pm

With regards to the recent 'Vote Rigging' controversy, and after heavy consultation with our lawyers, The Main Event Lads, presented by Spaghetti Hans, offer the following public statement.

High-ranking members of The Main Event Lads were alerted to the news of the breaking scandal in the early hours of Friday morning and quickly convened at TME Headquarters to discuss the unfolding incident. The entire TME collective sat round our mahogany table, and hard questions were asked. Though many in the organization initially refused to believe that any one of our members could ever be the source of something so nefarious, the parallels with the infamous Impostor Hits of Summer 2009 were too acute to ignore.

At approximately 5.20am, after hours of heated discussion, we got the confession we dreaded.

The facts: 3 duplicate accounts were indeed made by a member of our fraternity on the night of February 7th. We can confirm that these accounts were used to vote on behalf of Michael Jordan. And that these 3 votes, while hardly decisive, contributed to his victory. The accounts involved - rosicky-skillz, bignic-bendtner and denilson-skillz - have been handed over to the authorities, and we have co-operated fully with their investigations into the matter. On the afternoon of February 8th we were informed by none other than Adam D that we would be temporarily banned from the forums. It is a sign of the esteem to which we hold both the moderators and creators of this worthy site that we quietly accepted this punishment without invoking our right of appeal.

We can announce that this period on the sidelines has been a busy one at TME Headquarters, involving a lot of reflection and corporate soul-searching. The individual responsible has been reprimanded, and placed on probation. Indeed, it could be months until he is allowed to post again: the hardest punishment imaginable for a member of our dedicated collective. His explanation that it was for 'the greater good' is understandable, but his actions were ultimately unacceptable. We have not taken this blow to our reputation lightly. We trust you will find the punishment fitting.

As to the unfounded allegations thrown in our direction surrounding LeBron James - we simply take no responsibility. There exists not one shred of evidence that there was any vote rigging surrounding LeBron despite an extensive investigation by both the 606 moderators and our own collective. His defeat of Ben Ainslee and Jahangir.Khan can only really come as a surprise to a confused minority. The only true mystery surrounding the voting patterns there is that the most powerful athlete in sport's entertainment history: Mr.20k himself, King James was beaten by likes of Gareth Edwards.

You may be interested to watch our forthcoming interview with Oprah, to be broadcast in the coming days. We can't reveal too much right now, but sufficed to say Oprah asked some tricky questions, but eventually found us to be revealingly honest and likeable guests. We return now to 606 offering a unequivocal public apology to Tournament Director, MtotheC, on behalf of all of our members for the incidents of the last week, and with a never-greater hunger to deliver the hard-hitting, unbiased, investigative sports journalism for which we are famed.

clap

I didn't even know they existed before, but I like their taste in woodworking can't beat mahogany for a fine piece of furniture. By the way Lebron James is better than Jordan and I am a kobe fan.

Basically there was a vote on the 'GOAT' thread, SH made many accounts and tried to rig it so was banned for a few days.
