Golf and Costco
I just wanted to share with the various guys on here the bargains that are to be had at this giant amongst golfing retailers...
Last night I picked up 3 callaway gloves (leather) for 17 quid. That's less than 6 pounds a glove! Most impressed..
On top of that there were also Titleist and Callaway balls up for grabs at around 20 quid for 2 dozen or so.
If you have a card and don't mind that sort of thing I think its well worth a little visit.

Got a photo on it I'm afraid.
But I can take visitors....
they also had their own brand of leather gloves for 10 quid for 3! But not in my size. Shame really.

Re: Golf and Costco
as it happens membership is fairly easy to get now anyway. Any current or retired member of the insurance business (just an example... don't know why I picked that ) can become a member for 30 quid a year.
It really is cheaper if you don't mind buying in bulk.

There are a list of industries that they accept so it's a lot more open than it was.

Re: Golf and Costco
I'm off on a little drive to this golfing mecca this evening.
The other half is buying me an electric trolley for my birthday as she is tired of massaging my back and feet after a round. (As if I'm gonna let a trolley stop me complaining and getting that done!)

To go with my new trolley I think I'm going to need a new bag to stick on it. I'm thinking a pencil bag won't sit on there too well...
Currently I'm thinking something in a bright yellow with some horribly clashing colour to compliment this. Any thoughts?

Sun Mountain have been known to do bags in hideous yellow. Not sure what their current range is like though...

LJ - Let me know if there are any other golfing bargains to be had there - I have some Masters winnings to put to good use. We only rejoin there every 18 months or so, usually when the dishwasher tablets run out!

How do you make dishwasher tablets last so long? Mine seem to run out every couple of weeks.

Buying in bulk mac.
I'm going to try their homebrand glove next time sj. Three leather gloves for a tenner. And they usually have bags coming in and out. Theres a callaway stand bag in there at the minute for 45 quid or so.

As LJ says, Mac, buying in bulk. Costco tend to sell packs of maybe 5 or 6 large boxes bundled together for the price of maybe 2 in a supermarket. Same with washing powder/tablets etc. Makes the membership fee worthwhile on its own.

You would think I clash enough!
And it is a lot better.... I use it for all sorts of things. Tins of stuff, cleaning products, golf gloves, contact lenses. Anything that you can get in big packs and store away.
I even get meat in there and then freeze it. Costs a hell of a lot less than getting it in my local butcher or a supermarket... Usually around a 50% saving.

Is that really worth the bother, I don't mind just flinging a pack in the basket as I wander round the shop.

Depends how much washing you have to do Mac. We save a fortune on washing powder and the like as we have a mini-LJ running around making mess all over the place.

Do about one load in the dishwasher a day. Unless the saving are about the same as a round on TOC i wont be going to costco.

Re: Golf and Costco
It is Mac yes.
and the savings are big when you take it all together.
Contact lenses are 50 something quid for 90 pairs in Costco compared to 110 quid at my local optician. That's the fee paid immediately.
Add to that the other bits and pieces we get in there (wine is also very cheap I'm finding) it's more than worth it.

Re: Golf and Costco
I drink enough wine as it is, so should probably stay clear of that particular bargain. Also live in a flat so don't have a garage to stockpile the stuff.
I do remember going as a kid with my mom and her mate (who had a card) and begging for the massive boxes of cakes and stuff. There was always a massive trampoline that I wanted as well.

Re: Golf and Costco
It's all relative Mac. We buy a couple of kilos of chicken breasts and the like and freeze individual portions. Same with beef and other meat. That way there is always something there to defrost and eat.
As for storage. It's only bulky things that are a problem. A case of tomatoes just go in a cupboard. And four or five bottles of cleaning stuff is hardly a problem.
Besides. I just saved 100 quid on a trolley.

Cos that minor conviction was probably for running over a small dog which was a beloved pet and companion of some little old biddy.

No it was someone who should have had a lot more sense. Thankfully did not get any cell time.
As for the police I have to say they seem to be a bunch of people with iq's similar to that of a chimps. They really let the power go to their tiny minds.

The very same moment they teach us about a certain legal document called a policy booklet (which no one reads) which must be followed to the letter.
Its all a nonsense mate i know, but it all depends on what advisor you speak to.

It used to be that you could rely upon a copper to give everyone a bit of a kicking when they came into the station. When did they all become so bloody PC?
