Since I've heard that Nadal added some weight to his racket, I've been intruiged by this type of modification.
Been to several sites to learn more about this, seems like the usual way to add weight is adding some lead tape to the racket. Even just a few grams can make a lot of difference to the performance of your racket, in a good or a bad way. It's not an exact science, lot of experimenting can be involved to find the 'perfect' modification, but that's what attracted me.

I thought my Head Youtek racket was a bit too head-light, a view shared by many tennis players on the internet. Bought some lead tape in the local 'Do it yourself' shop (much much much cheaper than buying some tennis 'specialised' lead tape, like Wilson lead tape, which probably would just be the same thing and quality). Added 3 gram to the racket frame, 1,5g at 2 o'clock and 1,5g at 10 o'clock. This should provide a little more torsional stability, power, and a higher sweetspot, which is more to my liking. A negative effect is the racket becomes a bit less maneuverable, due to the added weight. Just by holding the modificated racket, I can already feel the difference. Thursday I'm going to try it out on the tennis court, hopefully I'll like the changes.

Well you describe the fors and against very well. Though there is a bit less manoeuverability you should be able to hit the ball with less effort as long as you prepare early and let the racquet swing.

I also have a head because of tennis elbow and the fact they are light headed. But I am thinking of getting heavier versions like the one Ljubo and Gasquet have.

Enjoy and keep us updated on the feedback.
