Tax Refund Cheque??? Empty Tax Refund Cheque???

Post by CFCNick Fri 16 Sep 2011, 8:17 pm

Hey guys, today I received a cheque in the post for an income tax refund, as you can probably tell from my age it is the first time I've had anything like this so I haven't a clue how to get the money.

Can I cash it at the post office or will going there waste my time? Am I better off heading straight for the bank?

If it's a cheque it will undoubtedly be "a/c payee only" - which means you can't cash it. You'll have to pay it into a bank account in the same name the cheque is made out to

Then when the cheque clears you'll be able to draw the money out

Ok thanks. I suspected that'd be the case.
